Ratings: Nine wins Wednesday as Zumbo’s Desserts sours

The Nine Network won its first overnight ratings since 17 July as Seven’s new cooking reality show Zumbo’s Just Desserts continued to shed viewers.

Meanwhile, ABC’s Gruen was the number one entertainment title of the night and Ten’s The Bachelor was again the number one program with key demographic groups.

Nine grabbed a network share of 28.4% to lead Seven with 26.5%, Ten on 21.5%, ABC’s 17.4% and SBS with 6.3%. In the 25-54 age bracket Nine also won with 28.7% ahead of Ten with 27.0% and Seven with 24.4%. Ten won 18-49 with 29.3% (Nine 28%, Seven 23.2%) and 16-39 with 32.2% (Nine 28%, Seven 21.7%) wile Nine won Sydney and Melbourne with Seven ahead on the other three markets.

Nine’s line up was topped by Nine News (1,004,000 and 914,000), A Current Affair (825,000) and RBT (825,000) all placing in the top ten for the night. The afternoon’s Hot Seat had 598,000 and later the movie Skyfall averaged 550,000.

Seven News topped the night with 1,145,000 and 1,090,000 while Home and Away continued its good run this week with 828,000. Zumbo’s Just Desserts managed 734,000, down from 830,000 on Monday and 1.08 million for Monday’s debut. The Chase had 710,000 and 466,000 in the afternoon with the premiere of The Durrells later on 684,000. Following, the movie Cuban Fury had just 154,000.

Over on Ten, The Bachelor (853,000) was number one at 7.30 after The Project had 684,000 and 471,000. After a break for the Olympics, Offspring retuned with 668,000, down from 783,000. Earlier, Family Feud had 539,000 and Ten Eyewitness News 529,000 while later NCIS: Los Angeles scored 230,000 viewers.

For ABC, Gruen (927,000) and the premiere of Anh’s Brush with Fame (806,000) did well. However, ABC News (740,000) and 7:30 (672,000) were down on recent results though The Katering Show lifted to 524,000. Other tiles were You Can’t Ask That (336,000), Pointless (193,000) and Soul Mates II (182,000).

Great American Railway Journeys (284,000) and 24 Hours in Emergency (220,000) were SBS’s best results.

At breakfast, Today (317,000) was ahead of Sunrise (291,000) and ABC News Breakfast (107,000. 44,000). Following,The Morning Show had 157,000 ,Today Extra 129,000 and Studio 10 95,000. Later, Seven Morning News with 144,000 beat Nine’s Morning News on 127,000
