Ratings: Gap closes between reality TV programs plus multichannel program ratings

Night two of the three-way reality battle was a closer contest than Monday but Seven’s My Kitchen Rules was again the number one show for the night with 1,060,000 viewers.

However, yhe cooking based show lost ground from the debut episode that averaged 1.19 million as Nine’s Married At First Sight held steady with 907,000 for its second night as well as winning the important key advertising demographic groups.

Meanwhile, Bernard Tomic’s premature departure from Ten’s I’m A Celebrity … Get Me out of Here attracted 844,000 metropolitan viewers. This was followed by the debut of Hughsey, We Have a Problem that averaged 603,000.

Seven won the night with a network share of 32.0% ahead of Nine (27.3%), Ten (20.5%), ABC (14.5%) and SBS (5.7%).

Also on Seven, Seven News (1,015,000 and 953,000) and The Good Doctor (1,014,000) were easy timeslot winners while Home and Away averaged 733,000 and later, Grey’s Anatomy had 289,000 for the new season debut.

A Current Affair (767,000) won the 7pm timeslot for Nine after Nine News had 895,000 and 905,000. One Night with My Ex later managed just 353,000.

Meanwhile also on Ten were The Project (602,000 and 362,000) and Ten Eyewitness News with 439,000. NCIS: Los Angeles just made the top twenty with 374,000, Family Feud had 301,000 and a late encore of Seal Team drew 159,000.

ABC’s lineup was topped by ABC News on 671,000 as a new season of The Checkout had 523,000, 7.30 had 531,000 and Catalyst made the top twenty with 443,000. Next best was Surviving School: My Year 7 Life with 199,000.

SBS’s best result was SBS World News on 157,000.

In the afternoon, Seven’s The Chase had 366,000 at 5pm rising to 591,000 for the 5.30pm portion of the show while Hot Seat on Nine had 260,000 at 5pm later lifting to 457,000. The Bold and The Beautiful had 262,000 on Ten as Seven News had 216,000 at 4.30pm and 197,000 at 4pm while Nine Afternoon News had 185,000. At breakfast Sunrise had 289,000 to edge out Today with 274,000.
