Random TV History

ACC was filmed at BTQ from 1990 to 1996. It moved to ATN in 1997.

Irony is The Big Breakfast and Wipeout with Tony Johnston were taped at BTQ in 2000 after everything else had moved.

Shows like A*mazing moved to TVW though.

After several experiments, Seven gave up on children’s morning television.

Yes with Big Breakfast carrying over to mid 2000. And the temp Olympic Sunrise during the Sydney Olympics.

From memory, the ABC also had a competitive line up (1998) of children’s content in the mornings. Teletubbies seemed to be a drawcard for a lot of children and parents.

Saturday Disney would last until 2016, despite several timeslot and channel changes.

Always remember getting the Agro Show bag at Royal Melbourne Show.

I think Agro also made some guest appearances at the Seven Marquee they had set up there in the mid 90s.

Pretty much, although keeping in mind that (at least certainly in 1998/99), there was still the original incarnation of Sunrise from 6-7, so those only ran for an hour and a half, until The Book Place at 8.30. AMV would’ve been later in 1999, they still ran cartoons (very) early in 1999 but without the CC branding.

Big Breakfast took all thaqt over in… summer non-ratings of 99 I think? and went from 6-8.30 initially, being justified by having kids-oriented news updates on the half hour… meant the later cartoons started at 6.45 and just after 7.30 from memory

but I seem to recall that the “studio” links (including the news updates that replaced Sunrise mk.1) got quickly pared down and it then went out from 7am as basically just a cartoon show (I think they might’ve filled the 6am slot with crap, like repeats of Gladiators and whatnot) - that cut-down might’ve been after Olympic Sunrise came and went, or not long before?

and then the current version Sunrise came in and Big Breakfast got relegated to Big Arvo.

The Big Breakfast ran from 2 August 1999 to 14 July 2000. It moved to afternoon in February 2001.

I first read ACC and thought A Current Affair and thought yeah if Agro hosted that I’d watch it more often!

Agro would probably do a great job introducing a “Neighbours at War” or “Menace to Society” story.

Been listening to the Ten News theme from 2011-13 and someone in the comments has pointed out that the refrain sounds somewhat similar to the “One to Watch” jingle that Seven had in the early 2000s.

You be the judge… do they sound familiar? Also worth noting Ten has had that famous refrain as its news theme since at least 1995 when they (first) moved away from the Eyewitness News brand.

Here is something that has not aged well. The intro to Channel Nine’s Wild Sex hosted by Don Burke

I’ve just come across this - a pretty well done parody on the classic “Love You Brisbane” slogan/jingle!
