These are de facto advertisements. Not aware of any requirements to display a clock.
Not “de facto”, they are actual ads. The clock was just a device to sell cheap ads.
Regional TV Australia Web Project on YouTube made his own GMV6 clock, circa early 1980s. IIRC the real clock/ad appeared each night after the finish of Seven National News but might have appeared at different times.
Anyone know why David is thanking “Kerri-Anne’? Was she filling in for Bert or was it another Kerri-Anne? This is 1995, persumably during GMA with Bert.
Kerri-Anne was filling in IIRC

MTN 9 Clearly weren’t able to get any ad revenue from the main crops grown in the region at the time.
Same in Apollo Bay. Even today many people have separate antennas for Melb VHF DTV and Vic regional UHF from local translator that sometimes suffers from King Island co-channel interference.
Quite often Gippsland (Mt Tassie) and Nth East Tasmania would duct in and be received with regularity in the Analogue days, especially in Summer.
That was the extent of Ten’s budget at the time.![]()
I’m sure it was against ABCB/ABT rules to get revenue from the wacky tobaccy. ![]()
Oh wow, it even syncs to different pool.ntp servers depending on which clock you’re using? You’re just spoiling us now!

Just happened to stumble on some more ABC clocks in this YouTube video, this time from ABT2 Hobart in the early to mid 80’s. Some of these have dates associated with them while others don’t.

Primetime programming on Channel 7 (BH&G, The Great Outdoors and All Saints) on the night of September 11 2001
Two lifestyle programs back-to-back and drama in primetime 25 years ago is a far cry to today’s reality TV offerings.
Wonder how The Great Outdoors and Better Homes and Gardens rated on a Tuesday night in the 2000s
