Yep that’s about it I think. Maybe community station 1197 in Brisbane
Reminds me of the time I stumbled on Kylie Minogue’s very current Padam Padam being played on RSN last year! I couldn’t say that was a regular occurrence but presumably someone at RSN has an interest in the latest music
I think that definitely counts as a “did they really just play that”… Tuning past RSN last night and they were playing Padam Padam by Kylie Minogue. Must have been a bit of a gap between races. But i am not sure that there’s a big overlap in punters and Kylie fans. Bizarre music choice!
They do have an FM repeater in Warwick and Stanthorpe though?
yeah they do
But not in Warwick AFAIK?
99.5 in Stanthorpe was in stereo as well last time I was there (in 2022). No RDS though.

Converted it to stereo at the studio end back in my time there

Sadly budget didn’t have provision for it

Good video by David M Green who managed to panel at SCA and SEN on the same day. You see inside the new SCA studios a bit and then the Southbank SEN studios too.
Is that the VHS review guy?
Yep
Didn’t know he did radio, great little insight video.
When did 3AK/SEN leave Richmond?

They went with an easy listening format for a brief period, about 10 or so years ago.
Then, for whatever reason, Bill wanted it part of the FM Network format again.

$$$ ??
Probably not enough revenue to justify a bespoke standalone format in a smaller market.

I do remember that format. From memory they played easy hits from the 80’s, 90’s and 00’s and the slogan was similar to that. What I heard, their listeners pick that format. I think it was around 2008 - 2010.
From what I recall it would have been cheap to run, being mostly automated.
In fact, it should have also been the default format for Radio 97 and 4GY, and that would have been a nice little South East Qld Network format.

Yawn… how many times have we seen this…
New online station starts - signs up impressive line up…probably on a decent dollar…promoted as the best thing since slced bread…then the money runs out and everybody leaves…then station shuts down!
I’ll give it 6 months!
I heard Halsey’s cover of Britney Spears “Lucky” on the radio (Power FM) today.
That’s the first time I’ve heard a song from this millenium released as a cover version on the radio (as Britney released the original in 2000).
Every cover I’ve heard so far this century has been of a song from the 20th century.
Have there been any studio released covers of a 21st century song that you have heard on the radio yet etc? (excluding things Like A Versions which are not an official release).

Yeah a recent example, Calum Scott’s 2016 hit Dancing on my own which was a cover of Robyn’s original from 2010. Wiki link.
