Random Radio

it is technically meant to cover Banana and Moura I believe, but hey why not Biloela it def needs more variety besides 4CC, considering the Callide Mine rebroadcast of Sea FM Gladstone sounds like arse and drops out frequently

Wide Bay is a little to the north of Sunshine Coast and includes the cities of Bundaberg, Hervey Bay and Maryborough. Sometimes Gympie is referred to as part of Wide Bay also. Even so it’s a fairly population region with well over 200,000 people.

IMO the Maryborough and Bundaberg licence areas should have been amalgamated into a single RA1 like Rockhampton/Gladstone. Wide Bay is a single TV market (although technically merged with Sunshine Coast). TV all comes from the one main transmitter and locals are used to ads from all three cities.

Sounds silly, but SRN seems like has a lot of potential ahead. If they can buy WIN Radio (i98/c93) and Midwest Radio then the SRN’s NSW stations can reach almost any inhabited parts of NSW. Then they just need to invest some more stations in QLD. Perhaps Renaissance Radio?

if federal government relaxed maximum station ownership limit to 3 (that’s one more station) that it’s a lot of different - we can have three format feeds from Grant/ARN in one area for example <(") (classic hits/oldies, Hot AC and CHR)

That would not be a good outcome for i98. ARN would love this as Wave fm would become the new market leader in the Illawarra, and probably indefinitely.

I wonder if Grant broadcasters could buy i98 / C91.3 it these stations were to go to market?

It would be a bit like the proposed ARN / ACP arrangement if this was to take place.
i98 would take the new KROCK log which would suite the station much better than the SRN 80’s to now log.

Another possibility would be ARN completes their network in Wollongong by purchasing i98, and SRN buys C91.3 to give them 1.5 stations in Sydney.

Why couldn’t SCA buy i98, I know i98 takes a few SCA shows, this also goes for Move FM/2LT why does SCA not buy these as well (Given they went to market)

Did SCA try to buy i98 off WIN at one stage?
I guess the playing field would change significantly if the ARN / SCA deal goes through.

I am surprised that SCA had no interest in Midwest Radio, they would have got overspill into Bathurst from both Orange and Lithgow.
Maybe if both 2LT and Move fm were on fm it would have been more desirable for a Hit / Triple M duopoly. Maybe the economics weren’t there in that market?

SRN/FM - Sydney’s Best Mix
!

I think they would have to keep the heritage name C91.3 but the SRN Best Mix would fit C91.3 much better than i98.

Also Sydney’s best mix on C91.3 may cause issues as ACMA was concerned that C91.3 would become another de facto Sydney station.

Yes, they did.

Neither did BOG.

A movie radio dial that makes sense and presets that matche the location of New York City.

That frequency is home to WNEW, for those who aren’t familiar with NYC stations. Think of it as the Nova of New York.

Rewatching ‘The Mole’ Australia S1, one of the challenges in episode 1 involved rescuing a ‘hostage’ from a guesthouse in George Town, Tasmania. The primary clue for the ‘rescuers’ was that the guesthouse was in view of some large radio towers, which were the 7NT (711 kHz) masts. If I were a contestant I would have guessed the location right away

And Melbourne? (although i can’t make out the bottom number that’s cut off)

Yes - a number of places as they use the 8MHz spacing. Also matches Los Angeles for example. I think the next preset is an AM frequency.

Are you sure you mean 8 Mhz ? do you mean 800 Khz spacing?
8Mhz doesnt leave many channels on the FM band :stuck_out_tongue:

8pm on a Saturday night in Sydney and there’s not one commercial AM station providing an hourly news bulletin.

2GB: NRL
2UE: Jukebox Saturday Night
2SM: AFL
SEN: AFL

I would’ve expected 2UE to have news.
