Heard on Logan 101 FM today.
I realise Iām being optimistic here, but does ACMA enforce the anti-hoarding provisions in the BSA wrt LPONs?
They donāt appear to do this for any other licenses, so I donāt see why they would for those off band LPONs.
I am yet to see it, they donāt seem to do much about LPONs not playing by the rules
Have a LPON here in Toowoomba with a quasi commercial format and at once stage running a 500w TX and ACMA has done nothing until the local commercial stations have submitted complains and they ask them to turn down the power which they did for a week or so and then turnt there TX back up to 250w
It really is a friggin joke how much the rules get broken and nothing gets done
The rules are followed better in NZ on there low power arrangement over there and they aināt even friggin licensed
Getting a bit sick of all the Listnr app adsā¦
On Nights With Dave Gleeson on Triple M, nearly every ad break has a Listnr ad.
And whilst down here in Canberra for a few nights, Iāve just turned onto to SCA 10 TV and seen a Listnr adā¦ I know there is an easy solution ā¦ donāt listen to/watch SCA!
They need better sales people to fill the gaps, lol.
Why donāt we have a weather radio service in this country? How good would that be?
Tad niche, no?
I meant in the same way other countries have a weather radio service. As a public service.
Canāt you get all the info you want on the internet?
But what if youāre not able to get online?
You donāt have a phone but you have a radio?
What if you have no phone signal?
Wait for the top of the hour or 15 minutes on NR?
What if you just look out the window?
I think a radio weather service would just be too broad to be really useful and wouldnāt really tell you anything you canāt get from other news bulletins.
Oh, you want something a bit like the American NOAA Weather Radio. I see. Not sure what is allocated here in Australia at 162MHz to make that possible or what power you would need the transmitters to be at, not to mention spectrum as there are only 7 frequencies used for NOAA Weather Radio.
An NOAA type service would probably be too marginal in Australia; only DXnerds and weather buffs would tune in (these are often the same people!) Youād need to have a scanner, or specialised radio like the units used by the ethnic VHF NAS outlets. The most feasible option would be to license such services within the VHF NAS band which is very close to 160 MHz.
As pointed out above, there is already an HF service. Again not many outside of the DXnerd/weather community know about it.
Thatās mainly for marine craft. Not for land lubbers.
This. This is what I was talking about.
Now how good would this be if it has DAB inside?
