Havenât encountered that before.
These are stereo. Also in stereo in the area are Coast FM Sunshine Coast 90.3 and Coloola Coast 95.3. Wide Bay RR, however is mono. Other RN and News stations in the area are mono.

More curious to see a music crossover report between JJJ and commercials during requestival over the last week. Based on some of the songs, I wouldnât be surprised if Gold104.3 (and its interstate sister stations) had the greatest cross-over.

Just regarding the metro ABC Locals I still think itâs possible they will move to the Classic FM frequencies in the capitals and Classic will be DAB/Online only. I know theyâre all on DAB anyway but ABC Local would really benefit from better signals and if they were on FM it would help attract younger audiences.

When ABC shifted to FM the whole building was renovated with new technology, studios etc in the radio department. This also happened again a couple of years ago. Everything was re-engineered yes.
Darwin has an unnecessary amount of studios however. There is 6 on the ground floor with only 2 max being used at once (radio show and news). They are also quite large in size.

I think 105.7 ABC Radio National - Darling Downs, Qld might have also switched from mono to a stereo pilot. Someone in the area might be able to confirm.

Yes it is stereo. Hadnât noticed when that happened, The RR station on 104.9 is mono for Sth Downs - would have though that would have been a better choice for stereo.

Iâm guessing itâs a recent transmitter replacement?
Sometimes the techs leave the stereo pilot on after commissioning a new TX, until some fringe area listener complains about the extra static noise with their reception & they switch back to mono.

A legacy of the Coast FM days to mirror the original concept on the Gold Coast. A shame it has been converted to a standard local radio station.
Bundaberg studios unfortunately werenât stereo upon the move from Maryborough.

Iâd start there, Radio NZ International are already using DRM so given we target Radio Australia at a similar audience the receivers are more likely to be there.
Domestic transmission would be good too - pushing people to VAST for radio is not ideal.

Probably hard to source a high power mono FM transmitter?
Especially as many radios these days (esp car) donât have an stereo/mono switch and even if they did most would know how to use it.

Radio Australia Shepparton site is no longer in broadcast Australia (BAI???) hands as of this month and all equipment has been taken out. When i was there in Mid-March for an event, most of the transmitter were removed then.
I know for the fact that some of towers are in a poor state.

Yes, that is correct⌠88.3 is the least used FM frequency in Australia (of those ending in an odd number), though is used in parts of Sydney and Melbourne.

As a Maryborough boy originally I still resent the ABC moving to Bundaberg lol. They are only now looking to demolish the old ABC building in Maryborough.

Yeah and it is particularly tough when youâre on the move too as the clear frequencies change. 88.3 would work here in Brisbane but drive down the coast and youâre very close to the local ABC FM on 88.5 which can be trouble.
97.5 would be a good one in Melbourne now, thinking about it, with the recent shut down of 97.4 there. Only 97.7 to worry about in the south east

I thought the building wasnât part of sale & had a heritage preservation order on it?
Are BAI/BA moving out of the building or still keeping their regional tech operations dept there for regional south/east Australia?

Agree, itâs the geographical centre of the region, first city founded and so on.
