Given the recent conversations on the “Southern Cross Austereo (Regional)” thread…
…I’ve dug up the old playlists that I’ve done over the years from when 2GO had the original “Greatest Hits” format.
Here’s one from nearly 5 years ago.
107.7 2GO - Central Coast, NSW
“Central Coast’s Greatest Hits”
Tuesday 19th February 2013 - 11am-12pm AEDT
“Working For The Weekend” Loverboy
“Behind Blue Eyes” Limp Bizkit
“California Girls” Beach Boys (these days, you’d be lucky enough to hear the David Lee Roth cover on the station)
“Something So Strong” Crowded House
“Daylight” Maroon 5
“Message In a Bottle” The Police
“L.A. Woman” The Doors
“Something That I Used To Know” Gotye feat. Kimbra
“Hold On Tight” Electric Light Orchestra
“King of The Mountain” Midnight Oil
107.7 2GO - Central Coast, NSW
“Central Coast’s Greatest Hits”
Monday 9th September 2013 - 11am-12pm AEST
“Hey Little Boy” Divinyls
“She’s So Mean” Matchbox 20
“People Everyday” Arrested Development
“Rebel Yell” Billy Idol
“Crazy” Gnarls Barkley
“Bright Side of The Road” Van Morrison
“Resolution” Matt Corby
“Better” Screaming Jets
“Love Song” Simple Minds
“Love Story” Taylor Swift (back when she was more country-oriented before going more pop-oriented)
In early 2014, 2GO & the “Localworks” stations went with the “Real Music Variety” format, which could be said to be the early incarnation of the “Greatest Hits from the 80s to Now” format that would be introduced network-wide at the end of 2015.
107.7 2GO - Central Coast, NSW
“Real Music Variety”
Tuesday, 15th April 2014 - 1-2pm AEST
“Harder To Breathe” Maroon 5
“Hold Me Now” Thompson Twins
“Tell Me How It Ends” Bernard Fanning
“Tainted Love” Soft Cell
“We Belong” Pat Benatar
“It’s a Beautiful Day” Michael Buble
“All I Want Is You” U2
“I Don’t Wanna Be” Gavin DeGraw
“Listen Like Thieves” INXS
“Team” Lorde
“I Don’t Want To Miss a Thing” Aerosmith
Not long after that log was done, 2GO, along with KO, went with a more 70s/80s-based (with minimal amount of newer music) “Greatest Hits” format, perhaps in response to KO slipping in the overall ratings for the first Newcastle ratings survey of 2014, particularly in the 40-54s, in which it went down 9% (but still holding on to #1 in both Overall & 40-54s).
Here’s 2GO playlist nearly a year after the format shift.
107.7 2GO - Central Coast, NSW
“The Central Coast’s Greatest Hits”
Monday, 2nd March 2015 - 10-11am AEDT
“You Got It” Roy Orbison
“We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions” Queen
“Poison Arrow” ABC
“Budapest” George Ezra
“All Fired Up” Pat Benatar
“Heart of Gold” Neil Young
“Just Can’t Get Enough” Depeche Mode
“Yellow” Coldplay
“What’s My Scene?” Hoodoo Gurus
“The Things We Do For Love” 10cc
“Time of Your Life (Good Riddance)” Green Day
As you can see above, 2GO & the other SCA Localworks stations were much better back then than now.
