Radio outside of Australia - Whats good?

I totally agree. I love how they mix the old in with the new.

Radio over there is one of the best :germany:

Antenne Bayern had a format change in late 2022, moving from a straight Hot AC format to a mix of current hits and older pop and rock music. There have been a few tweaks since then and the music mix is now around 40% current and recent hits, 30% 2000s/2010s music and 30% 80s/90s music. Over the 2025 northern summer Antenne Bayern ran ā€œFlashback Summerā€ and played one or two 60s/70s tracks per hour, such as ā€œ(Sittin’ on the) Dock of the Bayā€, ā€œ(I put my) Blue Jeans Onā€ and ā€œWe Are Familyā€. That was a far more adventurous playlist than an Australian commercial station. The station also ran a 30 minute ā€œ90s Takeoverā€ at 8:30 or 9:00am which had songs outside the regular playlist.

I find the music mix great, lots of new music and the older songs are not overflogged. I’ve noticed that Antenne Bayern regularly rotates recent hits and older music in and out of the playlist. A song will get airplay 2-3 times per day for a couple of weeks and the drop off for a period before being brought back, which is better than the same songs being played all the time.

I also like hearing new and older songs from European singers and bands that don’t get played over here. I was thinking about starting a thread on overseas music unheard on Australian radio to share some of the songs I’ve heard on Antenne Bayern and other German radio stations.

We already have the ā€œgreat songsā€ thread. AFAIK there’s no requirement that the station in question has to be Oz.

So feel free to post it there.
