Armidale has a tiny Radio National outlet on 720kHz on 50 watts. It used to have the callsign 2AN and from what I understand was a local ABC radio station.
There are no ABC or commercial FM stations in the Sunshine Coast apart from the Noosa relays of commercial stations. The Nambour ones serve the southern Sunshine Coast while the Gympie ones serve the northern Sunshine Coast. So while there is Abc Radio National in Gympie serving the northern Sunshine Coast, I suspect the southern Sunshine Coast is supposed to get it from Brisbane on AM.
Mmm I wouldnât agree. The âNambourâ stations really are the Sunshine Coast stations. Itâs the same licence area. It might still be called the Nambour RA1 licence area historically, but it includes the entire Sunshine Coast, including Noosa. The Noosa relays are just to improve reception of the Sunshine Coast stations within their licence area. All 3x commercial stations identify as Sunshine Coast stations. Going back to when 4NA rebranded to 4SS.
Yes, to my mind the Sunshine Coast includes everywhere from Caloundra in the south to Noosa in the north. Bald Hill is toward the south admittedly but still pretty much local across the coast. When I went to Noosa in 1998- well before any translators there- 91.9 Sea FM was fine.
