Meantime, just down the road… not sure what vintage this is,

According to this following page, 2EC converted their Eurobodalla (Batemans Bay/Moruya) translator from 765AM to 105.9FM in December 1992.

Is Power FM easily receivable in Wollongong and are the Wollongong commercial FM stations easily receivable in Nowra? All transmitters are located on Knight’s HIll. What about 2ST whose transmitter is located elsewhere?

Yes to both.

Prior to their transmitter (along with Wave & i98) moving from the old WIN analogue tower to the DTV tower in 2017, Power FM could be heard into Sydney quite well. It’s because of this that Power FM even managed to get to #1 in the Wollongong radio ratings (albeit one commissioned by Power FM, not McNair Anderson) not long before 2WL & 2 Double 0 converted to FM. After those two FM conversions, Power FM continued to rate reasonably well in 3rd place throughout the 90s.

Since its move to the DTV tower, Power FM isn’t as well received north of Wollongong CBD.

It’s not as well received into Wollongong.

This would’ve around the time when both 4BK & 3GL were owned by Hoyts before the former was sold to Austereo after it had bought FM104 (back then, one company could only own one radio station in a licence area).

This one from 24 June 1992 from the Illawarra Mercury is on the conversion of 2OO and 2WL to FM. Looks like i98 got the jump on Wave FM by 2-3 months. I always thought they were closer together than that.

From what I gather here, 2WL converted to FM on 4th July 1992, just 9 days after 2OO did theirs.

That didn’t happen, as per article I posted.

All they appeared to do was do a teaser on 4th July.

However, from that same edition of the Illawarra Mercury on page 13, there was this ad (I managed to save it from my previous visits to the State Library of NSW many years ago):

Whilst on the subject of Illawarra radio history, on the very next page is an ad for i98FM:
