The 2nd Fox logo was the best

Another variant on the mid-1980s logo
But their first logo in 1980 included the full call-sign â3FOX FMâ
I donât have a copy of it unfortunately
4CD= probably Capricorn District. But the double letter 4CC can be Capricorn Coast.
I think itâs more about Central Queensland from memory. 4CC marketed themselves as Central Queensland in the 80s at least.
What year did the third logo first used?
Probably during the Mid-Late 1990s would be my guess.
Off memory based on the logos for Fox;
FM is Fox Music was 1980-until whatever point they changed to Rock, from memory '83?
The black one of TVAUâs was about '85-'86? The orange and black in the Hit thread is after that from memory.
Blue and Red is 1990 or 1991 (definitely post Eon becoming MMM, would have been the start of the Black Thunders*) to about 1997-1998
Austereo Globe was 1997-1998 to 2005/6.
Light whirl 2005/6 to 2009? Dark 2009- to the H! rebranding, then so on.
Morning crew mug would date from 1993-1994 possibly? My memory is a bit hazy on that one.
Thereâs a fair few great Melbourne station logos however.
KZ always has had some fantastic ones (in particular the pre-FM change with the heart and the tram), XY, UZ.
Melbourne just has a really good sense of localism.
*Whilst on 1990-1992 Fox, there was a strange promotion on a tram at that point in time, including a breakfast OB with a helicopter following the tram trip, taking the feed. Definitely an unusual one.
Was also using the well used slogan at the time off memory of⌠âBetter music and more of itâ.
Almost certainly. Was living out that end of Melbourne at the time, so probably would have seen it fairly often. Distinctly remember the OB though.
On the other hand, 3DB/3TT/TTFM/Mix/KIIS would have a terrible time trying to do a 90th anniversary logo. The number of different logos theyâve had through those years, good luck with that one.
A 30th anniversary of FM might be possible, but even then itâd be a schmozzle trying to coordinate them all into something as slick as the Fox 40th, especially given KIIS (and itâs predecessors) doesnât have half the recognition in Melbourne as Fox does.
You probably couldnât really do a great celebratory logo or event for 2UW/Mix/KIIS either. According to my calculations thereâs been at least a dozen logo variants (taking into consideration all the slogan variants) for 106.5FM Sydney since 1994âŚand goodness knows how many as 2UW.
Presenter wise, a reunion would probably be more sad than fun. The longest serving breakfast host in 106.5FM Sydney history before Kyle & Jackie O (Sammy Power - presented Mix breakfast from approximately March 2002 until November 2007) is sadly no longer with us as of December last year, thatâs before taking into consideration what must be many former 2UW staff whoâve since passed on.
There are listeners in KIISâ target demographic who likely wouldâve only been children or teenagers when the switch happened - Mix 106.5 might be something their parents listened to back in the day, but I somehow doubt many current KIIS listeners (many of whom I suspect, were probably 2DayFM listeners before K&JO defected) have much recognition of the former Mix 106.5 name/brand. And 2UW? Youâd probably now have to be over 30-35 years of age to remember that!
I remembered 2UW when it was around & Iâm in that age bracket mentioned!
2UW wouldnât have much traction with people my age; only radio geeks like myself and TV_E remember them. Iâd probably put the age of recognition at 40+. Pretty much geological time as far as radio is concerned.
I was a big fan of 2uw . Bass and Pilko the legendary breakfast show! Love the prank calls.
