Thanks Josh.
The RDS List has been updated with the very latest Star FM data including the newly edited logos, which were a great bother to edit in this instance for some reason, but we got there.
Thanks Josh.
The RDS List has been updated with the very latest Star FM data including the newly edited logos, which were a great bother to edit in this instance for some reason, but we got there.
A few recent observations:
96.3 Coast FM (2CCC) have changed their PI code from 296C to 296A
104.5 Star FM has CT, but almost 1min fast
93.3 FM Central Coast has CT & itās accurate.
UPDATE: Have added the logo & website link for 87.8 AC878FM Fairfield, NSW (Sydney) to our RDS List. Thanks to @tvcl
Off again. Surely has to be a standby tx?
two seconds after posting the text above, the audio went silent & the āechoā of two of the same audio streams (one slightly delayed) programming resumed with RDS active again. This is what I experienced last week.
Funny thing, I either did that ages ago & wouldāve posted it here, but not updated the RDS document or I donāt remember changing it so donāt know how or when it changed, lol
If I did change it from 6C to 6A it wouldāve been for good reason Iām not in a position to look at the moment but is there possibility another station within reasonable distance away has a PI code ending in 9C?
Maybe I changed it the other way, the computer our RDS encoder was on had a catastrophic failure a while back & was replaced so maybe thatās actually the old backup settings that we reinstalled on the new encoder & I missed that ID changed the PI code previously & used a too old backup file for restoring?
Now Iām going to have to find time over the weekend & figure out what code Iām supposed to be using & why I picked it.
Last time I reviewed/verified the 296C PI code was Dec 2023 for 2CCC.
I donāt think thereās a problem with either 296A or 296C.
206C is used up in Lismore & Gold Coast for 2PNN/4PNN - that should have been fine.
206A is used for 105.5 Triple M Coffs Harbour, that should be fine too.
All checked with Worksheet 14 on the RDS List.
Iāve just looked back through some of our PM discussions & found this back in the middle of 2023, so yes it looks like 6A was an old code & I changed it to 6C, so the encoder backup we used when we installed the new encoder PC was too old & has the wrong info, so now Iāll have to go through everything & make sure itās correct to what we want or change it.
Quote from message, middle of 2023.
Also having looked through the PI codes, I may actually change Coast FM to 296C as thereās no other station with that code (to our knowledge). Thereās other stations with the current PI code of 296A, even though they are far enough away not to be a problem.
All good. Yes please let us know if you make any future changes to PI code.
94.9 Rhema Central Coast has joined the likes of 100.3 4BAY to add sponsor info to their RDS RT field.
Their RT uses this format: [Sponsorās Name] - Station Sponsor
It also appears within their RT+ fields.
106.9 VOX FM have recently implemented RT & PTY.
(Pics to come later)
Okay, Iāve gone through the MS RDS document, checked PI codes used, not used, close & far away & Iāve also gone through all the Coast FM Central Coast RDS Encoder settings & have made sure everything is as wanted & accurate after the wrong encoder backup was used to restore after the failed encoder was replaced & I have changed the PI code to 296E, which hopefully it should stay at now.
If you want to update the RDS worksheets & verify all other RDS settings off air for Coast FM 96.3 Central Coast, you can do it now, there shouldnāt be any further changes unless you find some error in something, I still have RDS2 Station logo active, but no long PS.
Done
Thanks. Verified the PI code. I would need a good tropo opening to confirm other settings.
BTW are you aware of anyone seeing the Coast FM logo on their vehicle tuners/receivers to date?
I havenāt as yet seen any vehicles marketing their vehicles with RDS2, but hopefully not too far away.
No oneās said anything to me, but if thereās people around who can see the Breeze/Rebel RDS 2 Station logos, Iām sure the Central Coast has some of the same cars/radio receivers around, whether those who have them listen to Coast FM I donāt know?
When did Triple M stop doing the score updates on their RDS during football matches? I remember them making a big deal of it when it started.
I was driving while tonightās GWS/Lions final was on, flipped Triple M on for a moment to try and find out the scores, and first time I got an ad break, second time there was just waffle, and then they just didnāt mention the scoreline after about 2 minutes of listening, so I gave up.
The scrolling text was just the āTriple M Rocks Footballā kind of promo stuffā¦
I think it was only ever there briefly for NRL games.
Iām guessing they decided they couldnāt bother to keep doing it because it required too much manual effort.
Alive 90.5 Sydney has made a couple of changes to their RDS with RT restored with a new static msg as: www.alive905.com.au & some familiar Group codes, an improvement on what it was some days ago, but still some way to go. The TA flag still on.
Thanks for the heads up @tvcl on its return to air.
I think the reason it is not displaying on your car radioās PS display is due to the dreaded use of NUL characters instead of SPACE characters after the station callsign to fill in the extra unused 4 characters after their callsign. Google ASCII table.
eg 2GLF NUL NUL NUL NUL
should be: 2GLF SP SP SP SP
Media Spy doesnāt allow me to use arrow keys to show special characters for the above two lines
If you open up the Group Analyzer, open up the Group Content Full TAB & you will see the many 00 DEC codes instead of what should be 32 DEC codes for the space character.
Drop them a email tomorrow. Their tech probably isnāt too experienced with RDS.
Off again / on again RDS on 96.5 FM Harvey WA. On at the moment with what looks like help from the tech that configured Bunbury 103.7 FM RDS.
