No, that would be a punching bag.
WSFM showbag from the Royal Easter Show. Fairly similar to last yearâs.
Bag looks similar to last year, and fairly bog standard
Yoyo is meh.
Sticker is one youâd might want to put on a car.
The hat is actually wearable! Fits over my big fat head.
Bluetooth speaker isnât too bad, canât tune into FM as yet, has USB and micro SD support. Similar to the KIIS speaker.
Food and drink, meh. Didnât come with the large bottle of hand sanitiser.
Not bad I guess!
Whatâs on the CD?
Iâm assuming âbest ofâ highlights from the Jonesy and Amanda show?
Thatâs not a CD, thatâs a sticker. They have given out USBs in the bags before, but all that had was a video with Jonesy and Amanda on it.
I remember when the Coke showbag circa 2008 had a shitty almost unusable FM radio that didnât have a frequency display - literally just buttons for âscanâ and âpowerâ.
You would be surprised at how cheap those Bluetooth speakers can be while still sounding pretty decent - theyâre around $2.60-$5 in bulk from China.
Let me guess what that video mightâve beenâŚthe Jonesy & Amanda âplaying around with gold paintâ TVC from a while back?
Come to think of it, thereâs been a few dodgy Coca-Cola branded FM radios in showbags and other promotional giveaways!
No, it was a video greeting from Jonesy and Amanda.
What did it say?
IIRC it was thanks for buying the showbag, some joke, thatâs it.
Some 4KQ News - Laurel Edwards underwent a procedure in recent days. She had a few days off the Breakfast program this week, but gave an update on her condition this morning saying sheâll be back soon.
Also they will be running an âANZAC Day Weekendâ featuring Australian and New Zealand classic songs. Their 14 page PDF list is here.
I just looked at the 4KQ play list for the ANZAC Weekend.
It featured The Uncanny X Men, Marc Hunter, Ted Mulry Gang, Dynamic Hypnotics, Renee Geyer, Sharon OâNeil and Flash in the Pan.
No wonder itâs giving the FM stations a run for their money. It seems to be run by people who love music and are having fun.
I think I am in love with 4KQ.
Thatâs the same impression I get with 2UE. Itâs like management installed a music director who is truly passionate about '60s - '80s music and said, âGo nutsâ.
Not so with commercial FM, which seems to be run by the marketing department. This song every three hours, that one every five hours⌠you can almost set your watch by it
Drive to the gum youâll hear that song. Drive home youâll hear it again. Drive to lunch youâll hear a few more songs. Drive home and youâll hear them all again.
Channel 7âs Sally Bowrey is reading the news this week on Jonesy and Amandaâs breakfast program.
Since i got my new car with DAB in it i rediscovered 4KQ and i do enjoy having it on.
the biggest problem for them is the fact they are on AM, which to be honest has a repuation for talk radio, racing and the ABC.
I guess itâs a double edged sword.
If they were on FM, I imagine the temptation would be too great for ARN to move 97.3 to a KIIS format and have a KQ-FM run the WSFM/Gold format.
Being on AM forces 4KQ to do something different.
4KQ is great. One of the few stations who play some of those artists (eg. Sharon OâNeil). So glad Iâve got DAB in the car so I can enjoy them properly. 693AM is what I switch to in the tunnels when thereâs no DAB.
I think youâre right, KQ-FM would be more like Gold/WS and 97.3 would go full on KIIS.
So I guess thereâs a silver lining that they are only on AM/DAB.
Iâve said it before but I just donât get Sydney breakfast radio tastes. I canât believe people listen to Kyle & Jackie O and I am equally confused why people find Jonesy and Amanda entertaining. I find them so very bland, almost robotic. Maybe thatâs Sydney though
