Public Transport

Ah! Thanks.

Here’s a video of the Yutong bus:

Anyone wondering where Transperth’s first B8RLE for the new contract is allocated, well it’s at Transdev’s O’Connor Depot (Along with the second one TP2961) which is within the Fremantle Contract Area. It may be onto revenue service soon.

Here’s another example of a second hand O405NH used by Rottnest Express which has two of them.

Can anyone in Melbourne tell me if they have rode on one there especially during rail replacements.

Ferry and tourism company SeaLink Travel is buying bus operator Transit Systems.

Hmm, i wonder if they could be the next operator of the buses in Rottnest Island once the contract with Adams Coachlines expires in 2025.

This will mean the long awaited removal of the level crossing on Parramatta Rd at Granville as it is expected that the line from Clyde to Rosehill Racecourse will be removed.

It will also mean the now unused Sandown line from Camellia will be removed.

I think this is a backward trip. The Parramatta light rail is welcome but why make it more difficult to travel from Sydney CBD to Rosehill, especially on big race days like Golden Slipper?

Transport for NSW has been recommending the shuttle bus service for a while

If Randwick could get by without a light rail line for 50 years, I’m pretty sure Rosehill will be fine.

For those in Perth, Swan Transit will be the new operator for the Joondalup Contract Area bus services taking over the Wangara and Joondalup Depots effective from January 2020, thus ending the contract with Transdev which is left with the Perth CAT, Fremantle and Rockingham Contract Area.

Found these on a party bus in Perth which was originally used for the Sydney Explorer before being brought second-hand almost a decade ago.

And in WA, bus drivers don’t use a Driver’s Authority Card.

Talk of the overcrowding on trains in Sydney, it’s nothing compared to the tubes in London. I was over there recently for the Lords Test match. Whilst I found it easy to navigate during peak hours it’s literally like being in a sardine tin. Plus the rush for people to get on, I nearly saw a bloke get decapitated by a train door.

Having said that the intercity trains were so much better. For a few extra quid you could get a seat with a power socket.

Whilst in Toronto the trains to the city from Pearson Airport we wonderful.

The tube (especially deep surface lines) are quite small, as little as 2.6m in width (pretty sure that’s external, not internal). With a total capacity of ~1000 per train, no wonder they run them at up to 30tph

At least the third announcement of a new train line that will end at Westmead. Hopefully this one will get built instead of being axed before construction starts.

Sydney Metro will feature in a 4-part documentary for SBS in 2020. I think it is mainly about the City and Southwest Project currently under construction but may also touch on the Sydney Metro Northwest project, which opened in May this year.

Mega Metro (working title)
TX: Mid 2020 on SBS
Number of Episodes: 4 x 1hr
This series explores the colossal task of building a brand new, state-of-the-art metro system through, beneath, and above the streets of the iconic city of Sydney, home to five million people. The series follows the international team tasked with making it all happen.

Cash register sound effect

Let’s not forget how Channel 7 were paid by the NSW Government to air their “World’s Best Metro” (my arse) doco, not long after the infamous “Maccas Gets Grilled” paid advertorial.
