off to auckland on the 26th for a week. will be doing a few train journeys over there - i’m going to eden park for the tour there and the last night i’m there the warriors are playing the bunnies.

i strangely enjoy going on trains when i’m interstate or overseas.

Come and take a ride on the Perth Airport’s free Terminal Transfer bus operating 24/7.

I like the MAN buses as they are quieter than the Volvo’s that Transperth has and especially the MCV version which i felt like that the engine was off while idling, although i would find the MCV ones aging too as how dirty was the inside.

Meanwhile, Carbridge (The operator) has a fleet of MAN’s with Custom CB80, Designline, MCV and even the integral Lion’s City bodywork. Not to mention some other brands including Optare.

Speaking of Perth, Alstom has won the contract to build 246 new ‘C-Series’ railcars for Perth’s Metronet program.

Adelaide’s rail networks are partially shutdown today and tomorrow in the off-peak to accommodate staff meeting with DPTI to discuss their futures when the government “modernises rail services” (AKA privatises operations à la Metro Melbourne).

CAT buses in Perth have a 10 year lifespan and when the Volvo B8RLE was introduced in 2016, the existing OC500LE would still continue operating normal Transperth services with the normal paint scheme like on other Transperth buses once there were withdrawn from operating CAT services (The Transdev O’connor units would be used in the CAT’s during peak hours).

As of now, the only operator of the Ex-CAT’s OC500LE are Path Transit and Transdev. But in this pic, it’s a Path unit from Malaga but it is temporarily allocated to the Welshpool Depot as their buses are under refurbishment that includes the placement of the Transperth logo on the exterior sides.

Sydney’s delays are seriously impressive. Wow.

Perth is getting the Euro 6-compliant Volvo B8RLE’s again starting with unit #2960. This is part of PTA WA’s new contract with the manufacturer and has cameras on the exterior (Like what the CAT buses has).

Chaos in Melbourne with Yarra Trams strike from 10am to 2pm, I live right next to the Kew Tram Depot and 10 News First was there. Didn’t see trams on my stretch of Route 48 until about 4pm.

i just got back from auckland where we caught the train a few times (i went to eden park and back, another day we went to Papakura and i also went to penrose for the warriors game)

trains seemed clean and tidy and we didn’t have too many issues. i can’t comment on the timetable as we were not too concerned with it but the price was pretty good (I got an AT Hop keyring (same as a opal or go card)

now if translink can do keyrings in brisbane i’d be happier

They’ve made a huge amount of improvements in a short amount of time.
Hard to believe only a decade ago they were running second hand 60s / 70s era ex-Transperth Diesel Trains across the entire network!

Melbourne’s Metro Trains website has a facelift this week. Cleaner interface, easier to find sections.

Anyone from Adelaide knows and/or rode the MAN SL200 bus used for Adelaide Metro? Although they sound beautiful on the inside, there slower than the O-Bahn Mercs and even as second hand to private operators such as WA-based Horizons West.

I’ve heard one driver who also prefer the Mercs because of how the driver’s seat works.

Last Monday, I headed to the Perth International AIrport and noticed that the skybridge has been installed over the Horrie Miller Dr. The Skybridge, which costs $31 million, measures 280 metres in length and this is to link WA train passengers from Perth Airport Terminal 1 to the Airport Central Station. The Forrestfield Airport Link is under construction and is set to be completed by early 2021.
