The government says it is confident that Victorians will be able to ride in the Metro Tunnel next year.

December 2025 is basically already 2026, clutching at straws to call it “next year” :joy:

If someone on here were wearing a 7 News cap and had a phone case with PRIME7 something on it, then you got on a bus I was driving this morning.

High Speed Rail Authority CEO Tim Parker was on Weekend Today this morning, talking about the business case for the Sydney-Newcastle route that will be presented to the federal government later this month.

The Public Transport Authority (PTA) is considering adding 13 new stops, including Matilda Bay near the University of Western Australia (UWA) and Applecross at the Raffles jetty.

Perth Dinghy Sailing Club vice commodore Chelsea Baker believes the proposed ferry terminal at Matilda Bay is a major safety concern and will force the closure of several local sporting clubs.

“Perth is one of the most car dependent cities on the planet,” Australian Urban Design Research Centre director Julian Bolleter said.

“We can see that every day in Perth with the congestion which is going on and the emissions which are associated with that.”

He welcomed any opportunity to diversify the city’s transport options.

The community consultation period ended on Friday, with the feedback being incorporated into the government’s feasibility study.

The colours of the train remind me of something…

Transdev posted a message on its FB page yesterday:

This week marks a special milestone for Transdev as we begin operating Yarra Trams. As Yarra Journey Makers, alongside our partner John Holland, we’re passionate about improving reliability, providing more consistent real time information and better customer service for the people of Melbourne.

Together, we look forward to working closely with the community to ensure the world’s largest tram network remains a source of pride for the city.

Thank goodness for that ,if they want to get more people out of their cars and onto public transport they have to keep the cheaper fares ,it has been a success so far with more users,so that’s less cars on the roads.
As much as I don’t like travelling on PT I’m saving money on petrol and $20 on my Go Card lasts so much longer before I need to add more credit .
I only use my car on weekends now to travel to the RSPCA for my volunteer shifts, because there’s always track work on train lines then.

Pretty amazing really… to think that it wasn’t that long ago that SEQ reportedly had the most expensive public transport in the world… now… apart from places where it’s free… we’re probably amongst the dirt cheapest.

I can’t wait for Morningside train station to reopen. It can’t be too far off, they’ve installed a new walkway and lifts,(was badly needed ,there were way too many stairs, hard for folks with mobility issues) and raised and extended the platforms. It’s only a 15 minute walk from home and I prefer to change trains to travel out to Wacol instead of a bus than a train as buses get stuck in peak hour traffic in the afternoon.

There was a very long ramp there for push bikes and wheelchair access that has since been demolished, having lifts will provide much quicker access to the platforms.
I used to use this walkway when climbing that many stairs, about 50,became too difficult for me.

The line is nice .
The train ride from Ballajura was decent.

The area is still in development so it’s going to look like a train station in the middle of nowhere for a while :people_hugging::laughing:

Anyone in the Sydney area been for a ride on the new Mariyung (D set train with the orange livery) yet?

I’m planning to go down to Sydney in the next week and hoping to find out which time has them (as they are only being run 4 - 5 times a day).

You might have to get in touch with ‘Sydney Trains Vlogs’/Abandoned Oz! There are set rosters about but I’m not that much of a cityrail buff, so don’t know where to find them.

In the old days, rail buffs (‘gunzels’) would ring the signal box at a station to find out what was coming…not sure if you could ring Newcastle Interchange
