Yeah but there is uproar when a service launches charging $20/month! Kayo costs $25 per month for more than what PTV Sport + would have.

@foxyrover @OnAir Talking of PTV Shop, I have put together a series of items that are not usually sold in shops like The Warehouse, Kmart or Briscoes in New Zealand. I used printify.com and below are the images which act as samples only.

T-shirts

Sweatshirts

Caps

Beanies

“Nightline” coffee mugs

Water bottles

Backpacks and tote bags

To order, viewers can use their credit cards and buy online (ptvshop.co.nz) or over the phone (0800 PTV SHOP = 0800 788 746).

I love it, but who would buy something with a TV station on it. Or a mug with Nightline on it? (Other than those on here).

Wow, printify is good!

@foxyrover It’s inspired by TV3 (now Three) during the 1990s.

In the 1990s, people could make their orders over the phone or by post. Nowadays, an online shop is used to sell merchandise to customers.

Yeah yeah yeah I know that mate, but you haven’t answered my question. You need to not just post something about the history of something or other when replying.

@foxyrover Thanks for your concern but, although I have greater knowledge, I just don’t understand.

That’s alright mate.

PTV2 PROGRAMMING (UPDATE)

As mentioned by me earlier, I describe PTV2 as a hybrid of both general entertainment and music television to cater for the 18-39 year old market.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, I have some subtle changes to music programming on PTV2. Sponsored by Primo, a flavoured milk brand through Fonterra, 2 Music Weekend becomes Primo Music Box - an all-night music marathon that screens late on Friday and Saturday nights, running through to 9am the next morning.

The show is divided into four sections (all times approx):

  • Late night (12.30-3am Saturday / 1.30am-3am Sunday): This section would be devoted to videos made up of different music genres - hard rock, hip hop/RnB, alternative and dance/electronic music, with a bit of party favourites.
  • Overnight (3-5am): This section would be devoted to concert footage, rising bands and new music releases from New Zealand and around the world.
  • Early morning (5-6am): This section would be devoted to videos focusing on familiar artists from the 80s, 90s and today.
  • Breakfast (6-9am): This section plays host to a selection of Top 40 videos that would best suit winding down after weekend party festivities. The videos within the 6-9am slot are made up of current, recent and new releases.

For reasons of music video and programme content, the late night and overnight sections of the show would be classified 16VLSC, i.e. people under 16 years should not view and may contain violence [V], coarse language [L], sexual themes [S] and offensive content [C]. After 5am, the early morning and breakfast sections would be classified as PG (Parental Guidance) programmes and parental guidance would be recommended for younger viewers.

Daytime
There is also a daytime version of Primo Music Box which screens weekdays from 10am-2pm (replacing Top 10 and Heartbeat City respectively). This version - classified as a PG programme - would be devoted exclusively to classic and contemporary music videos focusing on familiar songs from the original artists of the 80s, 90s, 2000s and 2010s with a sprinkling of current Top 40 videos.

The opening titles and graphics (see below) would be identical to the recently launched Primo Playlists commercial (courtesy of YouTube).

Primo Playlists was launched in February 2021 as ‘a one-stop shop for Kiwi music’ and is made up of four red-hot flavour mixes curated by some of the most iconic young artists in the New Zealand music industry.

After Dark becomes 12 O’Clock Rock and screens every Sunday to Thursday night (just before closedown on PTV2). The show features a mix of hard rock and alternative music in a non-stop, video clip-based format. It’s ‘90 minutes of classic and modern rock gems’, ranging from AC/DC to Foo Fighters, INXS to Kings of Leon, Oasis to Metallica and many more.

The PTV break bumpers (seen on today’s commercial breaks) feel familiar for some reason but I can’t place it.

That’s because break bumpers - which contain the channel logo - are commonly used on commercial television in Britain, such as ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5 and so on.

Yeah, that’s it. Thanks.

You’re more than welcome, @LiamP.

PTV1 SCHEDULE (UPDATE)

Due to unforeseen circumstances, I have some changes to PTV1’s daytime schedule.

“General Hospital” moves to the earlier timeslot of 12.30pm, and “The Young and the Restless” and “Days of Our Lives” have moved to their new times (1.30pm and 2.30pm respectively).

6.00am: PTV News Today
8.30am: The Morning Break
10.00am: What’s Cooking?

Hi - I have not forgotten about AFL fans in New Zealand.

PTV4 - a combined general entertainment and sport channel targeting 25-54 year olds with a male skew - would screen three live games of AFL every Friday (at 9.30pm), Saturday (at 3.30pm) and Sunday (at 3pm), plus a one-hour highlights package on Tuesday night (around 11.30pm) with all the goals from the latest round of AFL matches.

PTV Sport+ would stream each and every AFL game “live and on demand” - just like Spark Sport, in real life.

What do you think?

So you’re gonna show live AFL, but not live Rugby/NRL?

Don’t Sky have the NRL rights?
