PROPOSED WEEKDAY MORNING SCHEDULE FOR PTV SHAKE

@LiamP @TV4 @TV3_NZ @Michael_Eccles Below is a mock schedule.

I created PTV Shake as a youth-oriented entertainment brand from PTV Network New Zealand (as a fictional broadcaster) which comprises two distinct channels: PTV Shake and PTV Shake 2.

When it comes to PTV Shake as the main channel, it opens weekday transmission at 6am with a feast of early morning cartoons which are drawn from the likes of Disney, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network and various international studios.

The cartoon block serves as an alternative to the network’s flagship breakfast programme, Sunrise, which plays on the network’s main channel, PTV, from 6-9am and consists of news, sport, weather, entertainment and current affairs in a magazine-style format. Sunrise is preceded at 5.30am by Early Sunrise, an early morning news bulletin with a look at what has been happening in New Zealand and abroad overnight.

This is followed at 8.30am by 90 minutes of commercial-free preschool content, featuring such fan favourites as Fireman Sam, Thomas & Friends and Peppa Pig.

Phineas and Ferb, Fish Hooks and Sofia the First are, in real life, are available for streaming on Disney+, as does Dino Ranch.

The 9.35-10am slot would be reserved for a weekday preschool series which is a New Zealand production and similar to the likes of Sesame Street and Play School with a touch of Rainbow, a British TV series with such iconic characters as George, Zippy and Bungle. Live-action, animation, puppetry and music are brought together to form a powerful mix of education and fun.

is this any different from the first time you posted it?

No but, although it won’t happen again, a few tweaks had to be added.

For instance, studio presentation for my network’s mock coverage of the US presidential election would be done in Auckland and there would be live crosses to reporters via satellite in an effort to bring New Zealanders the most in-depth coverage of the election - which, in real life, is shaping up as one of the closest and most divisive polls in American history.

As an added bonus, a live feed of ABC America would be integrated into the coverage.

ok good.

@SA_TV I also have another mock update. There would be full reports in my network’s evening news bulletins (6pm & 8pm) and an hour-long edition of Nightline would carry complete reaction and analysis of the US presidential election (at 10.35pm).

This complex isn’t just about flashy sets and high-tech gear; it represents a holistic vision of media production, community engagement and a commitment to delivering quality content which reflects the diverse culture of New Zealand.

A state-of-the-art complex

PTV Network New Zealand’s complex is a testament to modern design and functionality. Upon entering, you are greeted by the harmonious blend of creativity and professionalism which permeates every corner of the facility. Spanning a sizeable footprint, the complex is thoughtfully laid out to accommodate a variety of operational needs, thus fostering a collaborative working environment.

Office space tailored for excellence

The complex houses various offices tailored to different aspects of the network’s operations. The sales office is a bustling hub where strategic partnerships and promotions come to life, ensuring PTV Network New Zealand remains financially sustainable while also delivering diverse advertising opportunities.

Adjacent to this is the marketing and promotions office. Here, creativity flourishes as teams brainstorm innovative ways to engage viewers and promote upcoming shows, utilising our linear television and digital platforms (including PTV+) to maximise reach.

The production and commissioning department offices include specialised units such as PTV Children’s & Youth, PTV Drama & Comedy, PTV Entertainment and PTV Factual & Lifestyle. Each unit is dedicated to producing and commissioning an array of local content, whether it’s an in-house or independent production. These ensure our programmes resonate with Kiwis of all ages and interests.

News, current affairs and sport - the heartbeat of the network

At the core of any reputable television network is its newsroom. PTV Network New Zealand boasts a state-of-the-art newsroom which houses PTV News & Current Affairs, an essential element designed to keep New Zealanders informed on the latest and breaking news. Journalists and crew work tirelessly in this dynamic environment, equipped with the latest technology and resources.

For sports fans, a dedicated office for PTV Sport showcases the network’s commitment to delivering comprehensive sporting coverage across linear television and online - whether it’s rugby, rugby league, netball, cricket or any other sport.

Studios that bring imagination to life

One of the standout features of the complex is its five purpose-built television studios. Two of these studios are permanently dedicated to PTV News & Current Affairs and PTV Sport, ensuring timely content is readily available for viewers. The remaining three studios are available for hire, providing budding producers and established companies with the resources to bring their creative visions to life.

Each studio has its own set of cameras and is paired with an associated control room outfitted with cutting edge audio and lighting control. This synergy between different stages of production facilitates the making of visually stunning and captivating local content, either in-house or independent.

Heightening production quality

Quality content is achieved through meticulous post production processes, facilitated by six HD video edit suites - two of which are 4K capable for colour grading and finishing. Coupled with two audio dubbing suites and a motion graphics suite, PTV Network New Zealand places immense importance on refining content before it reaches the viewer.

In the central technical area, highly skilled staff monitor and manage the technical aspects of production, ensuring everything runs smoothly. The master control room serves as the command centre for operations.

A comprehensive broadcasting hub

To ensure viewers enjoy a diverse array of programmes on offer, PTV Network New Zealand features six dedicated channel playout/presentation suites. With a total of 12 linear channels available free-to-air nationwide via the Freeview platform, there is something for everyone. Each playout suite is efficient with one covering two channels, such as PTV/PTV 13 and PTV Gold/PTV Gold 2, ensuring maximal use of the available resources.

Comfort and collaboration

Making magical content requires not only state-of-the-art technology but also an environment which promotes relaxation and collaboration. PTV Network New Zealand understands this necessity, providing a makeup room, dressing rooms and a green room where talent can prepare and unwind.

Catering facilities (including a licensed bar, cafeteria and buffet restaurant) add to the network’s ethos of community and togetherness. These areas allow staff, talent and guests to mingle, share ideas and cultivate relationships which can lead to fruitful collaborations.

Beyond television - a multimedia approach

PTV Network New Zealand is not just a broadcaster; it embodies a diverse approach to media and communication.

As well as being a television network, PTV Network New Zealand (in association with MediaWorks and RNZ) proudly presents TalkNZ, a commercial talk radio network operating within the same complex. This multi-platform approach allows PTV to engage with audiences in different ways and cater for a wider range of interests.

Moreover, with two dedicated podcast studios, PTV Network New Zealand and TalkNZ join together to tap into the growing demand for on-demand audio content. This integration of various media platforms not only enhances the viewer experience but also bridges gaps between different forms of storytelling, expanding the narrative universe produced and commissioned by the network.

PTV NETWORK NZ’s CHRISTMAS THEME LOGO

Below are the mock details.

In celebration of the 2024 Christmas season, PTV Network New Zealand (as a fictional broadcaster) has unveiled a festive makeover of its iconic logo. This limited edition design combines the network’s signature style with classic Christmas elements, creating a unique and captivating visual identity.

The Christmas theme logo retains the bold and stylish font of the original design, ensuring brand recognition and consistency. However, several festive elements have been incorporated to give the logo a seasonal twist:

  • Snowflakes resembling the Southern Cross constellation: These delicate, snowflake designs pay homage to New Zealand’s identity and national pride, maintaining the network’s connection to its local heritage.

  • Santa’s hat on the letter ‘P’: This playful addition adds a touch of whimsy and festive cheer to the logo, instantly conveying the Christmas theme.

The incorporation of snowflakes resembling the Southern Cross constellation serves as a subtle reminder of PTV Network New Zealand’s commitment to its local audience and heritage. This thoughtful design element ensures the network’s brand identity remains deeply rooted in New Zealand’s culture and values.

The addition of Santa’s hat on the letter ‘P’ symbolises the joy, generosity and festive spirit associated with the Christmas season. This playful element helps to create a sense of excitement and celebration around the network’s Christmas programming and initiatives.

Below are the logos for the following PTV Network New Zealand channels using the Christmas theme design:

How so? Does it snow in NZ at Christmastime?

No. This is only a Christmas variant as it doesn’t snow in NZ.

so is there not a local festive symbol that’d better ‘serve as a subtle reminder of PTV Network New Zealand’s commitment to its local audience and heritage.’ ?
