THE GRAHAM NORTON SHOW

@Michael_Eccles @LiamP @TBoy To put it into perspective, The Graham Norton Show goes to air on BBC One in Britain on a Friday night (local time; Saturday morning NZT). But it is beamed in via satellite and brought to New Zealand audiences on a Saturday night - just a few hours after it screens in Britain.

In my opinion, The Graham Norton Show will be perfect for screening on PTV (the main channel of PTV Network New Zealand as a fictional broadcaster) every Saturday at around 9.30pm. This means Kiwi fans will now enjoy a mix of A-list celebrity chat, the very famous Red Chair game, live music, laughter and fun from Graham and the celebrities themselves - all in much closer sync with fans on the other side of the world.

What do you think?

Isn’t it a fictional network? So you could choose anyone to take any role, irrespective of their current situations. You could have kept her as the host. Just my two cents. Anyway it is your network.

No need to apologise.

No no no no don’t do that

I was just saying that you can pick whoever you like and ignore their real-life situations.

That looks great!

I understand, @foxyrover. I have chosen Sophie Nathan as the new host of MAX’s weekly music chart show, Countdown. Sophie is an actress and presenter who has been working professionally from a young age, and, in recent times, moved into radio.

It’s hard for me to pick whoever I like, but I am doing my job.

CRIMEWATCH

PTV Network New Zealand is proud to present Crimewatch - a crime prevention programme made in cooperation with the New Zealand Police.

Based on the BBC TV series and format of the same name, Crimewatch uses crime reconstructions with lookalike actors. Many of the crimes investigated are solved through viewer participation. An arresting show where viewer calls do make a difference.

Here’s how the format works.

Crimewatch is shown once a month on PTV usually at 8.30pm on a Thursday (a slot occupied by the local documentary series Inside New Zealand), with a Crimewatch Update at around 11pm (following Nightline).

It features approximately three or four cases per show, with each case featuring reconstructions of the crime. Like its British equivalent, it is one of the largest live factual studio productions. The films shown often feature interviews with senior detectives and/or relatives or friends of victims. Key evidence is usually shown, such as computer-based profiles of suspects and details of certain lines of enquiry.

Other features to the show includes a “CCTV section”, which shows crimes caught on CCTV with enhanced imagery of suspects. A “Wanted Faces” section is also featured: eight close-up pictures of suspects police are trying to trace are shown on screen. This section also frequently involves information about suspects, including aliases.

Viewers can call Crimewatch by phoning 0800 654 654, with the phone lines remaining open until midnight the night following the programme. Viewers can also visit the Police website, police.govt.nz, and click the “Crimewatch” link under “Can you help us?”. All reconstructions, CCTV footage, faces and cases, including those that have been shown on previous programmes, are also available on the Crimewatch Facebook page. These will remain on the Police website and on Facebook until the criminals are caught or suspects convicted.

Crimewatch can also be viewed as a catch-up programme on PTV+ for 24 hours from broadcast.

Crimewatch Update.

Following the main programme, there will be a five minute follow-up after Nightline with updates on calls and results from the earlier broadcast.

Hosts.

Your Crimewatch hosts will be Laura Tupou and Tom McRae. They will be joined by several police officers as co-hosts (or information desk presenters), who are yet to be confirmed.

Crimewatch will be broadcast live each month from the studios of South Pacific Pictures in Henderson, West Auckland. It gives viewers a chance to help ‘fight crime in the home’.

No offense, but it seems odd to have video game characters represent a non-video game themed TV network

@MichaelPower It’s okay to say, “No offence”, but I am just being silly at the moment and it’s hard for me to find something else as the new “Mascots” of my dream television network or just go round the clock by adding in new programmes to fill the overnight/early morning schedules…

And for a fictional network to be affected by COVID restrictions

But, if you think about it, if it was real, then this would happen.

@beaversdream I really appreciate your concern.

@Michael_Eccles @LiamP @TV3_NZ @Kathryn_Milin I created a mock advertisement promoting PTV Network’s ‘news and current affairs hour’ from 6-7pm on weeknights. Its 6pm news is half an hour long, and there is a nightly current affairs programme (with Tova O’Brien) to follow at 6.30pm as a lead-in to a game show (at 7pm, up against Shortland Street!).
