LOGO UPDATE

Last time, I had to rebrand PTV Network’s television channels but the logos seem to have become a little bit dodgy. So, with the exception of PTV (the main channel), here are the newly revised logos for Shake, GEM, Turbo, Viva, Home and MAX.

For Shake, I used the “Milkshake!” logo and then cropped both the word “Milk” (accompanied by a sun) and an exclamation mark. This leaves the word “Shake”, and I changed the colour of the logo to orange (the channel’s official colour).

For GEM, I used the “9Gem” logo and then cropped the nine dots - leaving the word “Gem” and the change of colour to gold (the channel’s official colour).

For Turbo, I used the “Twin Turbo” logo and then removed the word “Twin” and changed the colour of the word “Turbo” to green (the channel’s official colour).

Special thanks to Channel Five (UK), Indie DB and the Nine Network (Australia) for the use of their logos. My brain, as always, appears to become overloaded and I am getting freaked out. Dedicated to @Kathryn_Milin @LiamP @TBoy @McMuffinMan17 @Biscuit45 @MichaelPower.

TE AO PĀTARIKI & TAKU TAI

PTV Network New Zealand is proud to present two new programmes devoted to Māori news and issues: Te Ao Pātariki and Taku Tai.

Te Ao Pātariki will be PTV Network’s new Māori language news bulletin, produced in conjunction with and drawing on the resources of Māori Television’s multi-platform media hub, Te Ao Māori News. Its sister programmes, Te Ao Tapatahi and Te Ao Mārama, are, in real life, broadcast on Māori Television.

The half hour bulletin - which presents comprehensive coverage of Māori issues and brings a Māori perspective to the important news of the day - will be broadcast live on PTV at 3.30pm weekdays, with subtitled replays at 5.30pm on PTV News 24 and after midnight on PTV.

The 3.30pm slot will allow Te Ao Pātariki to break Māori news stories before its main competitor (i.e. Te Karere on TVNZ), and will be in keeping with research that shows that all New Zealanders, including fluent speakers and learners of te reo Māori (the Māori language), are watching the Māori news on mainstream television up until 4pm and then catching a full replay with English subtitles later in the evening.

Taku Tai is PTV Network’s new hour-long, magazine-style infotainment programme. Screening Sundays at 11am in a non-commercial format, Taku Tai will be bilingual and will incorporate a range of features covering news, current affairs, sport, politics, business, the arts and culture - all from a Māori perspective and of interest to all New Zealanders.

Pango Productions, an independent Māori production company led by Bailey Mackey, will produce Taku Tai for PTV Network with support from Te Māngai Pāho.

Te Wānanga o Aotearoa, a tertiary institute with more than 80 locations across the country and over 50 courses on offer, will sponsor the new Taku Tai programme.

No need for “Aussie NRL competition”. There’s an NZ team. You can just say “…hardcore Rugby League from the NRL…”

You should also say “…and the biggest Supercars events, including the Bathurst 1000 and Auckland SuperSprint.”

Also, no need to say “female skewed channel”. Just “And Viva plays host to…”

Don’t say “we have a small core of permanent presenters…” You could just say something like “Our dedicated presenters and commentators cover a wide range of sports like, (sports).”

“Out of sight are sight behind the cameras”? Maybe “Behind the scenes is our team of production staff - producers, directors and productions assistants - as well as operational, financial and sponsorship staff. Our sports shows and coverage is made commercially viable through advertising and sponsorship opportunities.”

Bolded section is completely unneeded. Rest of the slide is great.

“…operated by our team of…”

“…fast-paced post-match analysis and live commentary on all…”

“…PTV Sport app are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.”

Other than these small changes, this is great Paddy! Keep up the great work.

No apology is necessary.

Before I upload the slides, I have here the frequently asked questions regarding MAX - a 24-hour music television channel from PTV Network New Zealand (as a fictional broadcaster).

What is MAX?

PTV Network New Zealand is proud to present MAX, New Zealand’s newest 24-hour music television channel. MAX is brimming with the latest and best music videos from New Zealand and around the world, chart countdowns, new releases, interviews, specialist shows, live concerts and music specials. The channel targets all 18-39 year old Kiwis and is designed to cater for all kinds of music fans, including those with more eclectic tastes.

Where do I find MAX?

You’ll be able to watch MAX on Freeview Channel 20, and you can also find us via live streaming on maxmusictv.co.nz or on the PTV+ app.

How do I find out what’s on?

Check the electronic programme guide (EPG) on your TV for the most up-to-date schedule information, or visit maxmusictv.co.nz.

Who is running MAX?

MAX is the brainchild of PTV Network New Zealand. The channel will be staffed by a pool of music and presentation schedulers and sales and marketing staff. Ross Flahive will be in charge of the channel as General Manager, with Phoebe Spiers as Content Manager, Tim Lockhart as Sales Manager and Jerome Sears as Head of Production. Small production teams, in conjunction with the PTV Network Entertainment Department, will be responsible for producing MAX’s own local shows.

Where will MAX broadcast from?

We will be broadcasting from a dedicated studio and broadcast facility at 71 Boston Road in Grafton, Auckland. This is where the majority of MAX’s local shows will be produced and, owing to the limitation of studio space, acoustic acts will be performed live as part of Sunday Sessions. It is intended that, on average, MAX will produce more than 50 hours of live and pre-recorded content from its Auckland studio each week.

I can’t find MAX on my television.

Most Freeview-approved TVs and set-top boxes should automatically update, but if that hasn’t happened, you may need to retune your TV or box to pick it up. For information on how to do this, visit freeviewforum.co.nz, consult your device manual, or ask the manufacturer for details on how to retune.

Will you run shows or just music videos?

The schedule will be a mix of music videos, specialist shows, live concerts and TV specials.

Is it all pop music or will you play other types?

As a music video channel MAX will cater for a wider audience of music fans, including those with more eclectic tastes, and cover different types of music. We will have a broader playlist of mainstream or pop music during the day, and we will progressively widen the musical palette as it gets later in the evening and overnight.

I’m in Australia, can I watch it?

No. Unfortunately, for licensing reasons, MAX is made exclusively for Kiwi music fans and can only be viewed within New Zealand.

How do I get a job?

For all the latest employment opportunities across PTV Network, please visit ptv.co.nz and click “Careers”.

How do I get my band/event/myself featured on MAX?

Contact the MAX team via email at max@maxmusictv.co.nz.

How do I get a video played on MAX?

We’ll be using a phone hotline and a text message service to collect music video requests, as well as taking calls on television talkback as part of Youthline TV. The phone number to call, toll free, will be 0800 MAX MUSIC (0800 629 687).

MOST WANTED
Text the keyword REQUEST and the track you want to 3050.
THIS vs THAT

YOUTHLINE TV

And now, I would like to introduce you to a good friend of mine.

Meet Danielle Gardner. By day, Danielle is a fashion designer and founder of Devel, a boutique retro fashion label which offers a full concept-to-reality design service and made-to-measure ordering on existing designs.

“Hi! I’m Danielle and I founded the Devel brand in 2006, when I stepped out of university and into the big world. Armed with a degree in fashion design and an Excellence in Fashion Design award from AUT, I got stuck into making retro garments and accessories for the glamorous and vintage-loving ladies of Auckland. I also gained invaluable industry experience through working in the design room of my teen-dream clothing company, Illicit Clothing, straight out of university.

“Devel happened because my thirst for fashion design is insatiable, and I saw a lack of options in the market for beautifully created garments for the kids like me who were into alternative music genres, hot rods, and the mid-century styles of rockabilly, pin-up and mod.

“This modern vintage-loving community has grown in leaps and bounds since 2006, as more people, both here in NZ and abroad, connect with each other and become bff’s over their common interests. I am ecstatic to be a part of it all, and so proud that Devel is still producing fun, amusing and confidence-boosting designs, for badass guys and gals the world over. Alongside my loves of fashion and music, I also love reading comics, rollerskating and ICECREAM!”

I first met Danielle (well, almost) at The Very Vintage Day Out recently and if PTV Network New Zealand (as a fictional broadcaster), which includes MAX, becomes a reality then I will be more than happy to hire her as a VJ (video jockey) on my music channel. As a self-obsessed music fan, she will host an hour of heavy metal videos on a Thursday night.

I have a full but dream lineup for my music channel, MAX. @LiamP, what do you think of that?

@TBoy Thank you.

What’s the point? Just have PTV everywhere and have local ads and opt-outs etc. like they do in Australia (for example) for regional affiliates.

I created the Aotearoa Regional Television (ART) system as a 100% owned subsidiary of PTV Network New Zealand.

ART is a group of local television stations that serve New Zealand’s regional markets (except Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch).

The stations will produce local news bulletins, sports shows, magazine shows, regional current affairs programmes and coverage of local events, such as the Dunedin Festival and the National Fieldays in Hamilton. There will be regular segments updating people about local events and job vacancies, as well as Police Five (a weekly segment which invites viewers to help fight crime in the regions).

The stations will also feature a pick of the best in local and international programming from PTV Network’s television channels and the digital platform PTV+. It is intended that ART’s particular focus will be on British drama, documentaries, game shows and films, all of which are aimed at the 40-64 year old demographic.

Each station will carry a similar schedule, and will not be networked together.

At the time of writing there are 7 regional television stations. The colour theme for each of the stations’ logos is loosely based on the colours of the provincial rugby teams.

Northern Television (NTV), based in Whangarei, covers the Northland region. Known as ‘the winterless North’ for its subtropical climate, for its subtropical climate, Northland’s expanses of white sandy beaches, great fishing and scenic locations like the Bay of Islands all combine to make it a popular place to live.

Television Waikato (TVW), based in Hamilton with a branch office in Taupo, covers the entire Waikato region. One of the richest agricultural and pastoral areas of the world, the Waikato is home to New Zealand’s famous dairy and thoroughbred horse racing industries and base for many agri-businesses and research institutes.

Television Bay of Plenty (BOP TV), based in Tauranga with branch offices in Rotorua and Whakatane, covers the heart of the Bay of Plenty - a large basin stretching inland from nearly 260km of coast. It’s a beautiful part of New Zealand and combines some of our best beaches and our most fertile land with one of our highest annual tallies of sunshine hours.

East Coast Television (ECTV), based in Hastings with a branch office in Gisborne, covers the whole of the North Island’s East Coast which includes Gisborne and Hawke’s Bay.

Gisborne, for instance, is the first city in the world to see the sun. This easternmost tip of the country is famous for its beautiful coastline, densely forested mountain parks, surfing and fishing, and is also a centre for wine and agriculture.

Meanwhile, Hawke’s Bay is described as ‘the North Island’s fruit-bowl’ and has extensive vineyards thanks to consistently hot and dry summers and autumns. Napier, built in a distinctive art deco style, adjoins Hastings, the region’s agricultural service hub.

Horizon Television (HTV), based in Palmerston North with branch offices in New Plymouth and Whanganui, covers the Manawatu, Taranaki and Whanganui regions.

Dominated by Mount Taranaki, an almost perfect volcanic cone from which the region takes its name, Taranaki is noted for dairying, and its petro-chemical and engineering industries.

Meanwhile, the combined Manawatu/Whanganui region is named after the two respective rivers. Palmerston North is a key university city, noted for its agricultural faculty, in a rich farming district. Whanganui is in the west of the region and lies at the mouth of the Whanganui river.

Bays Television (BTV), based in Nelson with branch offices in Blenheim and Greymouth, covers not only the sunny Nelson/Tasman region but also Marlborough and the West Coast.

Nelson/Tasman often tops New Zealand’s sunshine hours and boasts golden beaches and productive tourism, wine, horticulture and fishing industries.

Marlborough is famous for its fjord-like Marlborough Sounds and its vineyards thrive in one of our sunniest spots, while the West Coast is famous for dramatic scenery, high rainfall, National Parks and characterful locals. Tourism, mining and agriculture are the major earners there.

Southern Television (STV), based in Dunedin with branch offices in Queenstown and Invercargill, covers the Otago and Southland regions.

Otago, for instance, offers a distinct South Island lifestyle and an alternative to more heavily populated northern areas. Featuring stunning scenery, Otago offers mountains, vast plains, dramatic rivers, and remote beaches. Dunedin, the ‘Edinburgh of the South’, has an internationally recognised university that hosts New Zealand’s principal medical school.

Dunedin’s Scottish history has resulted in the city having the largest concentration of Victorian and Edwardian architecture in New Zealand.

Apart from Dunedin, inland Otago features some of New Zealand’s most spectacular scenery.

Meanwhile, Southland is New Zealand’s most southerly region and includes the World Heritage ranked Fiordland National Park. Its only city Invercargill offers a relaxed pace of life with wide streets, little traffic, spacious parks and gardens, striking Victorian and Edwardian architecture and impressive sporting facilities including New Zealand’s first indoor velodrome. Southland’s location is such that views of Aurora Australis or the Southern Lights are common.

An agricultural powerhouse, Southland is home to the world’s largest raw milk processing plant along with New Zealand’s only aluminium smelter. World-ranked national parks draw many tourists, low house prices attract residents and low fees draw students to the local Institute of Technology.

More to come later.

AOTEAROA REGIONAL TELEVISION - PROGRAMMING

Below is a preview of programmes on each Aotearoa Regional Television (ART) station.

NEWS

Each ART station will run its own local news bulletin under the News at 7 brand - Mondays to Fridays at 7pm, with a repeat at around 10.30pm (under the title Regional News).

News at 7 will feature a mix of the day’s important local, national and international news, plus a detailed local weather forecast. National and international news will be sourced from PTV Network’s Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch newsrooms as well as CBS, NBC and ITN.

Each local newsroom will, on average, have its own news crews - four reporters, a chief reporter, two camera crews and a news anchor with the flexibility to go out on the road and file stories, plus an additional two reporters and one camera operator based at branch offices in remote locations - all of whom will work under the direction of a news producer and editor.

CURRENT AFFAIRS

After News at 7, there will be a half hour programme of regional current affairs on each ART station - Mondays to Fridays at 7.30pm. Each current affairs programme will be known as Local Edition and cover local issues, local politics and a local angle on national news stories.

SPORT

ART, like PTV Network New Zealand as a parent company, will have a commitment to sport - particularly at a local level.

The ART stations will provide coverage of sporting events from within the viewing area - including club rugby, netball and basketball - plus two local sports magazines in primetime.

On Saturday evenings, Scoreboard will screen at 6pm and provide a run through of the day’s sports results from around the regions. And on Monday evenings, Sportsweek will screen at 8pm and feature a local perspective on the weekend’s sport.

SHOPPING

Each ART station will have its own advertorial-style shopping programme under the Marketplace brand - Mondays to Fridays at 11.30am, 5.30pm and around 11pm. With a half hour format and no commercial breaks, the shopping programmes will be high paced, informative and local, which promote businesses and retailers in the regions.

LOCAL PRODUCTIONS

There will be regular programmes of interest to local communities, such as Access, Community Noticeboard, Jobfinder and Police Five.

Access is a series which provides an opportunity for community groups and individuals to join forces with professionals to produce their own programmes.

Community Noticeboard is a series of short segments updating people about local events.

Jobfinder is a weekly programme which details job vacancies from around the regions.

Police Five is a short segment where, each week, viewers are invited to help fight crime, giving details of unsolved crime and developments in crime prevention.

Other programmes in the pipeline will include local rural news and real estate shows (under the Farming Today and Real Estate Today brands), regional cooking/lifestyle spots, a fishing show and a travel show/tour guide packed with action and adventure from the visitor attractions in and around the viewing areas.

NZ & INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMMES

In addition to ART’s own local programmes, the stations will feature a pick of the best in New Zealand and international programming from PTV Network’s television channels and the digital platform PTV+. ART’s particular focus will be on British drama, documentaries, game shows and films.

That’s a taste of what Aotearoa Regional Television has to offer. Each ART station will carry a similar schedule, and will not be networked together.

Next weekend, it will be Christmas time at my dream television network. If you have any thoughts or problems, please leave me a reply and I’ll get back to you.

I don’t mean to be rude, but when is enough enough?

Whilst you’ve done a thorough job and would no doubt have a very successful career as a copywriter, I’m not sure there is anything else to contribute in this thread?
Because PTV is make-believe, there’s really no need to update this thread with program schedules, presenters, presenter bios, program bios, channel numbers, etc. There’s no meaning to it and therefore adds no value.
The lack of replies from members is a good indication you’ve covered everything (and beyond), and it’s time to move on from PTV and create something totally new and less in-depth.

That’s just my two cents.
