28 years ago today.
What happened on ABC that afternoon (AEST) was that it featured a National Newsflash presented by Indiria Naidoo then after that they throwed to rolling coverage simulcasting European Television networks coverage. I know Nine did something similar and did Seven throw to rolling coverage following the state-based Newsflash?
What’s the bet that people bought multiple copies just for the chartable cause and some got used as coasters or something.
Also it goes to show how the music business has changed since 1997. These days it would be a digital download or ready to stream on Spotify

With today marking the 29th Anniversary and that we’ve now all seen Nine’s evening Schedule for August 31 of 1997 (Local Time across Australia), does anyone know if Seven happen to still went ahead with it’s evening schedule of Who Dares Wins (6:30 PM), Home Improvement (7:00 PM), Police, Camera, Action! (7:30 PM) and 3rd Rock From the Sun (8:00 PM) or were most of these programs not shown?
It was wall to wall coverage, I’d say a safe bet 3rd Rock didn’t air that night

Seven broke during the AFL match between Collingwood and North Melbourne
Still feels like yesterday.
I was in year 11 at High School at the time and last period of the day i had Modern History. Anything that was planned by out teacher that period went out the window. We just spent the 40 minutes talking about what happened.

I think the schedule is wrong for 7 based on AFL Tables there was a match at Football Park that started at 5:10 PM ACST (5:40 PM AEST) so are we sure the schedule you listed aired? AFL Tables - 1997 Season Scores

Western Bulldogs and Sydney was the only final on a Saturday with 3 Sunday finals due to the funeral of Diana on the night of 6 September. As a result there was no Friday Week 2 final with all week 2 semi-finals on a Saturday
