so even though it’s reported it will take effect December 31st, 7 news saying Jan 1st?

Some info here:

The acquisition will be completed on 31 December 2021. - going by the article.

That’s what I meant, but the 4 pm Sydney news said 7 and prime will become one company officially Jan 1 st :S

I think that Seven News may have made a mistake by the looks of it.

Seven Afternoon Fake News? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

its at midnight December 31st

Can’t wait to see who goes blind first staring at the bottom right of their screen waiting for the watermark to change.

I’m waiting for them to mess with people here and keep swapping between the two - nobody outside of here will really notice but they really could have some fun!

A bit like that time WIN was messing around with their sports coverup. That was fun to watch. Man, crazy to think that was 15 years ago!

Hopefully they do a 7 coverup just to fuck with people

having half metro branding and primes own looks stupid sc10 was the last to have their own branding and 10 during advertising programs

Yeah but at least Prime’s branding includes the 7 brand as well, just like how WIN/NBN’s branding used to include Nine’s dots. SC10’s brand was alien in comparison.

Yeah I can see them switching to a dirty feed and the only Prime mentions will be during local news.

Thing is, Prime and GWN already have the Seven as part of its logo, so it would be a lot easier to just ditch the Prime and GWN word mark, including on news.

Might take some time for the newsroom and physical stuff to get properly replaced, but the Seven brand is already there and well known to the audience. They are also just ā€˜Seven’ in regional Queensland. I doubt they would be interested in having more than one brand in their combined regional operation.

Remember, they’ve quoted savings of up to $10 million per year in synergies. Particularly as a public company, investors will be looking for that to be achieved.

Updating the logo across a whole GFX template isn’t that easy. Which is why I’d expect it to take a while.

I’m guessing in time the Prime7 news opening titles will all be replaced by versioned out localized titles just like 7 Queenslnd

Can you give us an idea of what it entails? I think a few of us here (myself included) thinks it’s as easy as getting a copy of the metro idents/promos and, I don’t know, grabbing a watermark of Google Images or something?

There is time for Seven to work out what fits best.

The three options I would consider are:

  1. Maintain existing structure of Seven News/Local News on main channel in regional markets. The Seven News section could be a half hour bulletin prepared for regional markets and screened at 6:30pm or 7pm on 7Two in metros. Local News could be encored on 7Two at same time the shortened Seven News screened for those that missed it at 6pm. This could screen across all markets that have Local News. This would be most expensive option.

  2. 5:30pm Local News then 6pm News bulletin. This could be encored at 6:30pm or 7pm on 7Two. Metros could air a repeat game show like Wheel Of Fortune or Million Dollar Minute* when Local News is on regional on 7Two. Probably the most cost effective option and most desirable for regionals

  3. Exit Seven News at 4pm at 4:30pm and screen Local News at 4:30pm. Again, this could be encored at 6:30pm or 7pm on 7Two.

Two other possibilities but less likely

  1. Local News windows for regional stations. Not the best idea as the metros station may have to fill the new with fluff news stories to fill in that window.

  2. Noodle updates on regionals and possibly follow what 7Central does in Broken Hill and Spencer Gulf and screen Local News on 7Two at 7pm. This option would possibly lead to the news not being viable to produce and subsequent axings of bulletins
