Right. Probably should have been posted on their website though.
Anyway life moves on. I don’t see it lasting anyway after Rob’s departure.
Right. Probably should have been posted on their website though.
Anyway life moves on. I don’t see it lasting anyway after Rob’s departure.
I don’t think he’s officially departed though, he’s just hung up the mic for a while for a “much needed break”.
Read into that what you will.
Yeah, I dunno. He seemed pretty done with his friendship with Robbo. It was building for months. I’m surprised Rob lasted as long as he did before exploding.
Not helpful to speculate about the status of their friendship, and I don’t believe that to be the case at all.
I’m commenting about what was seen/heard. It was a pretty major issue then Rob doesn’t return the following week. You don’t have to be a genius to work out something has happened.
I personally hope Rob returns and it continues. It’s become a Tuesday night tradition of mine.
We all saw it mate, obviously wasn’t great how it played out.
No issue with discussing what happened, the viability of the podcast moving forward etc, but speculating about the state of their friendship is unwarranted.
I too hope that it continues, have been a listener / now watcher for some time now.
What do you need to know when approaching the banks about a loan? What’s in your car boot that could save you money on petrol? And what about finding ways to cut costs when visiting the doctor?
SBS News Presenter and Finance Editor Ricardo Gonçalves and journalist Peggy Giakoumelos explore one subject per episode with an expert in the field aimed at helping audiences make more informed decisions about their everyday spending.
“With cost of living pressures rising, we’re all looking at ways to make our dollar stretch further and sometimes it’s the simple things that can often make the most difference,” said Gonçalves who presents the finance news on SBS World News and hosts the SBS On The Money podcast.
“On Cost of Living Secrets we go back to basics to find out how we can do more with what we’ve already got.
“What I find fascinating is the psychology of the consumer: why we shop the way we do, what triggers us to buy certain products, and the way retailers try to manipulate our purchasing behaviour.
“On Cost of Living Secrets we go through all of that and a lot more with experts in their chosen fields to help our audience make informed decisions and save money every day, on everyday things.”
The six-part series includes an episode on supermarket shopping with consumer behaviour expert Professor Nitika Garg who explains just what all those colourful price tickets on the shelves really mean and if they are really saving you anything.
“Red or yellow stickers signal a deal in supermarkets, so we end up paying special attention to them. As a result, every time we get a good deal, psychologically, we get a dopamine hit, right? It’s like a pat on the back,” said Professor Garg.
Peggy and Ricardo also sit down with general practitioner Dr Rebekah Hoffman to talk rebates, bulk billing and the different services available for patients in metropolitan and regional areas.
“Many GPs offer online referrals. Which once again, saves us time so you don’t have to take a day off work to go and get your referral. But often this will save you money because the cost of doing an online referral is often less than doing a face-to-face doctor’s visit,” said Dr Hoffman.
For food savings, Daisy Coyle, an accredited practicing Dietitian, sheds light on when it is okay to go for cheaper brands.
“A lot of the time trading down is okay. Nutrition, particularly if you’re switching to a home brand, private label product, people think they’re not going to be as healthy, but they are just as healthy across multiple things,” she said.
Cost of Living Secrets will be available from today on YouTube, the SBS Audio app, LiSTNR and wherever you stream podcasts.
Cost of Living Secrets is general in nature and is not intended as financial advice; you should consult with a licensed professional to make the decisions that are right for you.

LiSTNR today announced that Mick Molloy and Titus O’Reily’s podcast has expanded to become Bizarre with Mick Molloy and Titus O’Reily , featuring more episodes, more laughs, and more hilarious stories.
Following the ongoing success of the pair’s original Sports Bizarre podcast, Mick and Titus are expanding the format to now include an additional weekly episode called Animal Bizarre. With their trademark wit, banter, and storytelling, Mick and Titus will take listeners on a captivating journey through the animal kingdom as they share wonderful and wacky stories.
Mick Molloy said: “From seagulls who are too fat to fly, drunk echidnas, a crypto-investing hamster, racoons hell bent on disrupting a ‘gender reveal party’, and a bear who invaded a military base, every week we will be looking at the most bizarre stories from the animal kingdom.”
Titus O’Reily said: “We’ve been thrilled with the ongoing success of Sports Bizarre – and we will continue to find the weird stories from the sports world*,* but we’ve always wanted to branch out with other topics. When it comes to the stories we tell about animals, we are like David Attenborough if he didn’t fact check and had an incredibly poor understanding of wildlife.”

In March 2020 two campers, 74-year-old Russell Hill and 73-year-old Carol Clay, headed into the Victorian high country, never to return home. What followed was one of the most perplexing missing persons cases in our country’s history.
The Missing Campers Trial podcast, a production from the teams at 9News, The Age and 9Podcasts, takes listeners deep inside the meticulous police investigation that ran for 18 months until November 2021 when former Jetstar pilot, Gregory Lynn, was arrested and later charged with two counts of murder.
Today marks the start of the high-profile trial of Gregory Lynn, with Nine’s journalists Penelope Liersch and Erin Pearson taking listeners into the courtroom, revealing every important detail as the evidence unfolds, examining key moments and bringing together the best in Nine’s journalism, audio and video collaboration to cover the unfathomable crimes on trial in Victoria’s highest court.
9News Reporter and co-host, Penelope Liersch said: “This is a case that has drawn attention across Australia and the globe, but at the heart of any case of alleged murder are the people who’ve lost their lives. It’s their story and the stories of their loved ones that we strive to keep at the forefront of our reporting”.
Erin Pearson, Crime and Justice Reporter at The Age said: “Every day cases play out in our legal system, this podcast is a rare opportunity to bring listeners inside that system to see how a jury trial works and why”.
The Missing Campers Trial launches today, 9 May 2024, with episodes dropping weekly everywhere you get your podcasts.

Confirmation this morning that after nearly 6 years the TV Blackbox podcast will wind up, for now.
A lot of people have been asking about the TV Blackbox Podcast. Unfortunately, the time has come to wind it up.
It’s been an amazing run since Molk and I launched it in 2018 and there have been a variety of amazing contributors.
Very very disappointed this morning reading this news. What a shame that something couldn’t have been worked out.
I will miss this podcast and my weekly Tuesday routine heavily.
TV Blackbox was compulsory listening when it first started and while I didn’t always agree with the hosts, it’s departure is definitely going to leave a big hole in the Australian media landscape. congrats to Rob, Molk, Abbey, Sarah, Kevin, Robbo, and all the other contributors over the years for an amazing show.
It’s a question rarely posed in public: do I want kids?
It’s also one that Laura Henshaw from the highly successful LiSTNR podcast KICPOD co-hosted with Steph Claire Smith, is pondering.
After raising the subject on a recent KICPOD episode to overwhelming support from people across the world, Laura has recorded a limited series podcast with people from all walks of life; from parenthood mentors to child-free advocates, career-driven professionals, stay-at-home mums, young and older parents, relationship experts, medical specialists and her own husband Dalton Henshaw, about this sensitive and incredibly personal decision.
“I have never been inundated with more messages than after I spoke about the issue for the first time on the podcast. For women and people between the ages of 20 and 40, who don’t feel ‘born’ to be a mother or parent, there is so much shame around their decision and so many women feel alone in this feeling, when it is incredibly common,” said Laura.
“The fear of losing ourselves, giving up a life we love, the impact children can have on our relationships, our inner selves, are all so very common. And if we do decide to have kids, is it even possible for us? Although parenthood is a choice, it’s not always guaranteed,” she said.
Do I Want Kids? discusses the question in a safe and honest space and begins on LiSTNR TOMORROW Wednesday 15 May 2024 with episodes every Wednesday and Friday for seven episodes - listen to the trailer here
“Across the world more women and couples are choosing not to have children, and that’s OK. In a pro-natal society, it still feels taboo to speak about the decision to have, or not to have, children,” said Laura.
“I wanted to create a safe space in this mini-series to ask the questions we feel we can’t ask but are so important in shaping our decision. Having children is a very personal choice, one that isn’t guaranteed, and through this limited series I hope to give people going through this process some breathing space, and conversations, to bring the question into the open, because it’s one of the biggest decisions we will ever make,” she said.
“Yes, this is a decision that is close to my heart right now. I have my own thoughts and reservations about having children and I wanted to create a platform for people like me to hear a wide range of different perspectives and feel less alone and better informed. I want to normalise this conversation.
“Throughout the limited podcast series, with insights from experts and people’s real stories, we are able to really break through the misconception that having children is essential for a ‘successful’ life full of love and joy. Life can be beautiful both with and without children, and exploring this was incredibly freeing. I hope listeners are able to feel the same way.”
Laura and Steph are two of Australia’s most successful entrepreneurs, authors and healthy living advocates and together have created one of the world’s most holistic wellness empires, in Kic. The KICPOD launched five years ago and is one of Australia’s top 50 most listened to podcasts*. It’s a D&M with your besties on the stuff that matters.
Listen to regular episodes of KICPOD here and the limited series Do I Want Kids? from tomorrow.
