Here’s what the TV schedule looks like for Ch 4- 2 linear channels pretty much full time during the games hours plus a You Tube channel with 18 streams

From Radio Times.

In Hong Kong, government broadcaster RTHK is the only station showing the Paralympics, unlike the recent Paris Olympics which was shared between RTHK and three commercial networks (TVB, Hoy TV and Viu).

Sadly HKers typically pay more attention to the Olympics than the Paralympics, so it makes sense for the commercial stations to focus on something else on their schedules.

They all have some highlight shows throughout the day though: TVB shoved the whole event (Opening Ceremony and highlights) to TVB Plus (Ch.82), as do ViuTV to English ViuTV6. HoyTV originally put highlights only on English Hoy IBC, but later added to the Cantonese channel as well. They’re also airing the Opening Ceremony in the main channel. RTHK TV32 is, as you say, playing the games in full (plus the Olympic Channel relay, TV36).

The Paralympics will be free to watch on TVNZ, presented by Scotty Stevenson and Dame Sophie Pascoe.

TVNZ+ will have five dedicated pop-up channels on the streaming platform and there will be coverage on TVNZ1 from 7.30pm each day of the Games.

The New Zealand Paralympic Team’s performances in Paris will be the focus of the broadcast, which will be live captioned by Able and will include live, delayed and replayed coverage and highlights.

I thought TVNZ did a pretty good job with their studio-based coverage - way ahead of what Sky had. Just a shame they didn’t have daily highlights like SkyOpen.

Paris 2024 saw huge viewership numbers for the Paralympic Games on TVNZ. Over 40% of the population, two million Kiwis, watched TVNZ 1’s coverage, alongside an additional 240,000 accounts on TVNZ+, with almost 1.4 million streams across the 11 days of competition.

Paris 2024’s broadcast audience was 12% higher than Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, which reached 1.8 million viewers across TVNZ DUKE’s coverage and TVNZ 1’s highlights package.

TVNZ+ had live streaming numbers of almost 750,000 on TVNZ+ in 2021.

I’d be weary of those streaming numbers - how often does a stream drop out (at the household end) and they have to reconnect… that happend for me on 2/3 of the roadraces. Do these get counted only once? Need to see the methodology.

But over all, the coverage, especially with the three Dames was really interesting and insightful. Didn’t mind the AR cats either!
