With bare hands and basic tools, 12 strangers are tasked with building a 330 metre bridge across a lake over 17 days. But as always, there’s a catch and the mysterious glowing beacon is the key. Welcome to The Bridge Australia, streaming exclusively from this Friday on Paramount+.

Meeting in the remote wilds of Tasmania to take on such a task are Aussies from all walks of life. Australia, meet your builders.

Hailing from Victoria is Author Allira, Marketing Consultant Georgina, Social Media Coordinator Rhiannon and Paramedic Steve.

Carpenter Bardie, Advertising Executive Elliot, Heavy Machinery Operator Jessi and Dance Choreographer Tiana all fly the flag for NSW.

From the heat of Queensland to the cold of Tasmania is Mechanic Dean, Model Maddie, Sales Director Madison, Bush Poet Mark and Life Coast Tony.

And The Bridge Australia wouldn’t be complete with local Tasmanian Adventurer Justin.

Will they succeed in their task to win the $250,000? Only time will tell. Build it together. Cross it alone.

Synopsis

Twelve strangers meet on the shore of a deserted lake in the remote Tasmanian wilderness and together they discover their challenge – to build a 330-metre bridge in only 17 days, using just their bare hands and basic tools.

The bridge needs to stretch from the lake’s edge to an island where a mysterious beacon guards a
chest containing $250,000. If they succeed, only one will claim the cash prize to be faced with the ultimate dilemma: keep the entire money haul for themselves or share with their fellow bridge builders.

During the 17 days, as the bridge is built, the players will see flares catapulted from their island destination at various intervals, alerting them to twists in the game and changes that can help or hinder their fellow teammates. The first to race to the flare’s landing point controls the outcome of the twist.

Can a group of strangers live together in the wild and work together to build a bridge to reach a life changing prize?

The Bridge Australia is a physical and mental game and social experiment that will push players to their limits. Enduring extreme elements, they’ll battle power struggles, moral dilemmas and each other to build their way to the end.

Filmed against a stunning and wild Tasmanian backdrop, The Bridge Australia is the first local production for Paramount+ by Endemol Shine Australia.

Series Facts

  • The cabin and tool workshops took four weeks to build from the ground up in Lake Pieman, Tasmania.
  • Due to the remote location and to maintain a sustainable focus, production had to work around the land and didn’t have access to machinery, so everything was built by hand and manual labour.
  • The players were supplied 300 six metre logs, which was the estimated timber requirements to build over 300 metres worth of bridge rafts. This was six trucks worth of timber.
  • The amount of timber would have been enough to fill a football field, but was stacked high and stored on a barge next to the lake.

Forgot to send the Paramount behind the other elements on this one, as you can see with the others:

There is a free trial. Not cruel at all.

People who can’t afford it long term just won’t watch. Simple’s

Absolutely, but both are not mutually exclusive, hopefully for as long as possible.

This is a very rose tinted view - aside from regulations around broadcasting of news etc, FTA exist to make a profit for their shareholders and to keep you as a viewer watching between the ads.

Absolutely, but both are not mutually exclusive, hopefully for as long as possible, it is just not right to pay for basic content IMO when there are ways to monetise that, it is good for society.

And we don’t pay towards the cost for the ads when we buy the products? There is no such thing as FTA IMHO! As someone on a fixed income I have a sensible selection of streaming content at any one time. As a poster suggested earlier wait until a series is fully on a streaming service and buy one month. I don’t spend money drinking alcohol or smoking and cannot afford theatre like I used to so my streamers for AFL and EPL (and some other shows) are my forms of entertainment. So called FTA doesn’t cut it for me.

The only thing to resolve that issue is the idea of streaming with ads in the programs to provide free access which I believe some are working towards.

Simone Kessell Joins Season Two Of Yellowjackets.

Emmy Nominated Drama Series Yellowjackets. Exclusive To Paramount+.

Paramount+ announced today that Simone Kessell (Obi-Wan Kenobi) is joining the highly anticipated second season of Yellowjackets as Adult Lottie Matthews. In addition, Courtney Eaton (Mad Max: Fury Road), who plays the teen version of Lottie, has been upped to series regular in season two. She joins recently announced Lauren Ambrose (Six Feet Under, Servant), who will play the adult version of Van.

Yellowjackets is nominated for seven Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Drama Series, Outstanding Lead Actress for Melanie Lynskey and Outstanding Supporting Actress for Christina Ricci. Yellowjackets was also nominated for two writing Emmys and earned additional noms for Directing and Casting. Season one averaged over 5 million weekly viewers across platforms. Produced by studio Entertainment One (eOne), the series will go into production later this month in Vancouver.

A New Zealand native, Kessell can currently be seen opposite Ewan McGregor in Obi-Wan Kenobi as Breha Organa, mother to Princess Leia as a child. Previous television credits include a recurring role in Taika Watiti’s Our Flag Means Death, as well as Reckoning, The Crossing, Of Kings and Prophets and Terra Nova. She stars in the upcoming feature Muru, which will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF). Kessell received an Australian AACTA Nomination for Best Supporting Actress for her performance in the film Outlaws. Other film credits include Andreas, 2:22, The Lovers, Burning Man and The Informers.

Created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson (Narcos), Yellowjackets stars Emmy nominee and Critics Choice Award winner Melanie Lynskey (Castle Rock), Oscar® and Emmy nominee Juliette Lewis (Camping), Emmy nominee Christina Ricci (Z: The Beginning of Everything) and Tawny Cypress (Unforgettable).

Equal parts survival epic, psychological horror story and coming-of-age drama, Yellowjackets is the saga of a team of wildly talented high school girls soccer players who become the (un)lucky survivors of a plane crash deep in the remote northern wilderness. The series chronicles their descent from a complicated but thriving team to savage clans, while also tracking the lives they’ve attempted to piece back together nearly 25 years later, proving that the past is never really past and what began out in the wilderness is far from over.

Season one also starred Ella Purnell (Sweetbitter), Samantha Hanratty (SHAMELESS), Sophie Thatcher (Prospect), Jasmin Savoy Brown (The Leftovers), Sophie Nélisse (The Book Thief), Steven Krueger (The Originals) and Warren Kole (Shades of Blue). Liv Hewson (Santa Clarita Diet) who plays the teen version of Van, has been upped to series regular in season two. Yellowjackets is executive produced by Lyle, Nickerson and fellow showrunner Jonathan Lisco. Karyn Kusama also executive produced and directed the pilot. Drew Comins of Creative Engine also serves as executive producer.

Well that would be a good thing!

The Bridge premieres with 3 episodes Friday on Paramount+.

Classic 10, no mention anywhere until now that only 3 episodes would be available at launch and when new episodes will be available.

People have been asking for days, even weeks on socials about the release strategy and nothing but radio silence from P+.
