Very weird they’ve gone for acquired content from 20th Century TV. Disney must be selling to other outlets.
But then P+ got rid of that good content in February.
I can’t believe lots of the Australian dramas have gone. I was hoping to view some of them. They also got rid of Tokyo Vice. I was mid season of that. There’s a season 2 and now no sign of that on any service. It’s become a shit show.
Paramount+ Aus have acquired content from outside the Para ecosystem since launch locally to supplement their offering, nothing new despite what happened in Feb which was for the most part were their own shows and local series.

Sometimes the studios who produce them, sometimes its the streamer. Really depends on a show by show basis.
Many Netflix originals are actually owned by their studios. To use your example, The Crown is actually owned by Sony. Netflix just holds first run and streaming rights. Maybe there’s a clause in the contract that prohibits a linear run, or Netflix owns them too. But these rights usually end at some point, and then Sony can do whatever they want with it. It’s why the Marvel Netflix shows (Daredevil, Jessica Jones etc.) moved to Disney.
Netflix has been increasingly moving to outright owning their originals, usually by paying full production costs plus a fee to the studio actually producing the content. Since many streamers are owned by major studios they usually produce in house and hold the rights anyway.
But things get removed because back-end royalties still have to be paid outright when a show is on a streamer, and if a show isn’t being watched then it’ll be cheaper to remove it than to keep it up. Sometimes these removed shows are then licensed out elsewhere, or released on discs where royalties are paid per unit sold, sometimes they just disappear.

Paramount+ categories and interface is slowly getting better, noticed they have introduced a carousel with top 10 shows and movies - though have always been a bit dubious about how accurate these are.
Considering they are all broadcast procedural type shows it seeems legit to me - if P+ was curating that top 10 to influence users viewing choices - the top 10 would be full of P+ originals they want to push
