What is the chances of The Price is Right replacing The Chase? I think it has potential but has to be done like Channel Nine’s version in the mid 90s not cheaper version that Seven last attempt sponsored by Big W.

I actually thought that TPIR would be ideal for Channel Ten since I thought that Paramount would own the rights to it, but apparently Fremantle does.

I don’t think Seven want to touch TPIR again.

The revival was initially piloted with James Sherry as host and Darren James as announcer. However, Nine ultimately decided not to proceed with that pairing, instead commissioning the series with Larry Emdur and Shaun Cosgrove reprising their original roles.

Interestingly, if you compare the YouTube clip of the Sherry pilot with the premiere episode hosted by Emdur, you’ll notice the pricing game order remains unchanged between both versions.

It actually launched 3 days earlier

on the Friday?

This would’ve aired a week after the finale of Australia’s Worst Driver, which (I believe) Colquhoun hosted.

Unfortunately I cannot find any video footage of the show anywhere; I remember that final episode where Maggie, who was the worst driver, had her car crushed by a machine though would receive a year’s worth of free public transport as a consolation prize.

They were covering the death of Michael Jackson that day

Reading that little leaflet about SBS in Wollongong, I assume between then and 1988 that SBS moved to UHF Channel 53 in order to have WIN-4 move to Channel 59.
