I was surprised other stations didn’t have a send off. Seven was the only network to mark the milestone.

A missed opportunity there.

What a flop of a show after starting the year with a bang thanks to the 2005 Australian Open - Men’s Singles Final and Lost

Don’t also forget Desperate Housewives, which proved to be a massive hit for the network in the first quarter/half of the year.

Temptation was good, but it couldn’t hold a candle to Sale of the Century.

It was also affected by Seven’s then powerhouse early evening line-up, of Deal or No Deal, Seven News, Today Tonight and Home and Away. All flowing-in to and boosting one another as well, with ratings in the mid-1m sometimes up to 2m metro (bar DOND). Not to mention providing further lead-in and promo exposure for hits that year in prime time, such as Desperate Housewives, Lost, 24, DWTS, Heelers, All Saints and eventually Prison Break. IIRC Temptation was given the axe by, it may have actually been David Gyngell, after McGuire stood down, sort of 2007 into 2008?

The final episode of Temptation aired 30 November 2007. Unaired episodes recorded in 2008 aired during the summer of 2008/09 after which it was replaced by what else but Two and a Half Men.

I don’t remember Ten covering the SOO series, let along the Melbourne match. Was it shown live against the gate in Melbourne?

The whole match (along with game 1 and game 3) can be found on YouTube.

It was aired on delay in Melbourne

Didn’t they replace it with Two and a Half Men at the start of 2008 though? I watched a lot of Two and a Half Men that year. Say what you will about it but that show was a powerhouse here for a couple of years.

Yes they did. When Ed was asked about Temptation’s return on the NRL Footy Show, he responded with “maybe summer”.
