Always love a good Olympics. Tokyo fell a bit flat (for obvious reasons) and Rio was below average so we are long overdue a good, buzzy Olympics which it looks like Paris is on track to deliver.

There has been a real good vibe to Paris - first Olympics in 8 years with crowds - unique opening ceremony - plus the strong swimming team here in Australia.

Hopefully the buzz continues into LA 2028, and Brisbane 2032.

Notice the outfield at Stade de France (athletics track) is covered in purple cloth. I assume it is done to keep it in pristine condition ahead of track and field competition in week two.

Australia will enter 203rd of 205th just behind LeBron/Gauff and Team USA and France on Friday night. It will be interesting to see how many athletes will take part considering we are put at the very end of the parade of nations

what determines the order in which nations enter the stadium?

Australia will be the third last team on the parade as it will host the 2032 Summer Games in Brisbane.

Greece always goes first and is followed by the IOC Refugee Team. Then everybody else in alphabetical order (I think in local language - certainly in Tokyo it was based on Japanese). The host nation of the next Games goes last, in the past there was only ever one future host nation as games were awarded seven years ahead but I guess that has changed now.

Have fun and be safe :grinning: are you staying for the duration of the games ?

Yes, the countries are in alphabetical order based on the local language.

The host country comes out last. I don’t remember future Olympic hosts being close to the end. Is that new?
