In the women’s surfing competition in Tahiti (held after the men’s), American Caroline Marks claimed gold with a narrow win over Brazil’s Tatiana Weston-Webb - 10.50 to 10.33. France’s Johanne Defay won bronze over Brisa Hennessy of Costa Rica.

With surfing gold to France we drop down a spot to fourth. It’s a tight tussle for the top 5 with GB breathing down our necks. I love how the golds have been spread more this games.

Great run by Jess Hull in the heats of the 1500m. If you’re watching via Nine you wouldn’t have known. It was love on 9Now and Stan.

They’ll no doubt play it on broadcast ‘as-live’ without the watermark “Replay” add-on soon.

Which is being manually controlled in-program from the production, rather than presentation/playout. As Seven did in later years with their “Live & Free” add-on during their Olympics, Winter Olympics, Comm Games and Aus Opens, adding or removing it depending.

Paraguayan swimmer Luana Alonso … reportedly became the second athlete sent home before the end of the Games amid claims she spent a night out in Paris and went to Disneyland rather than staying to support her teammates.

Alonso has also been also accused of distracting other competitors by socialising with other teams and wearing skimpy clothing around the village, instead of the official uniforms provided by Paraguayan team chiefs. And the trip to Disneyland was reportedly the final straw for Team Paraguay, with the country’s Olympic Committee boss Larissa Schaerer confirming she had been ordered to leave. “Her presence is creating an inappropriate atmosphere within Team Paraguay," Schaerer said. “We thank her for proceeding as instructed, as it was of her own free will that she did not spend the night in the athletes’ village.”

But the 20-year-old has since responded to her banishing, claiming she is the victim of lies and false information. “I just wanted to clarify that I was never kicked out or expelled from anywhere, please stop spreading false information,” she said in a statement on Instagram. “I don’t want to make any statement but I’m not going to let lies affect me either.”

Arisa Trew has become Australia’s youngest Olympic gold medallist at 14 years 86 days. She claimed gold in the women’s park skateboarding event with a stunning third and final run.

The Boomers however bowed out in men’s basketball quarter-final, losing 95-90 to Serbia in overtime, after leading by as much as 24 points in the second quarter.

In football, France will play Spain for gold in the men’s final, while Brazil will face USA in the women’s final. Canada, who scraped through to the women’s quarter-final on Sunday despite being deducted six points for the drone spying scandal, lost to Germany 4-2 in penalties after they were held scoreless at the end of extra time. Two days later, Germany were edged out 1-0 by the Americans.

It’s amazing how young some of those skateboarders are. I noticed last night that there was an 11 year old competing!

Well done to Arisa Trew! So good to see us still sitting in third on the medal tally into the second week.

The Australian Olympic Committee (AOC) has confirmed an Australian hockey team member was in custody after being arrested in Paris on August 6.

No charges have been laid.

The AOC is continuing to make inquiries and arrange support for the team member, but officials were initially unaware that there had been an incident involving a team member.

UPDATE 7.40pm AEST: The Australian has named the player arrested as Kookaburras’ Tom Craig. The dealer had 75 ecstasy pills and seven vials of cocaine and was also arrested, with Craig understood to have bought a gram of cocaine.
