A couple of tunes from Triple M that I’m sick of:
The Calling, “Where ever you Will Go”
Johnny Cougar (as he was known back then) “I Need a Lover”

One song i could do without is Jack and Diane by John Mellencamp.
Hurt so good can be added to this list too
I actually quite like the instrumental intro to I Need a Lover, but agree the rest of his stuff can take a hike. Small Town in particular is a giant snoozefest
I think his music generally got better later in his career.
His cover of “Rave On” was probably my favourite of his.
Others include “Lonely Old Night” and “Pop Singer”.
I do like his music it is just radio stations just flogged his songs too much.
Certain songs anyway.
There are plenty of other great Mellencamp songs they can play, but don’t.
The cover of ‘Wild Nights’ (Van Morrison) Mellencamp did with M’Shell Ndegeocello in 1994 is a great song. Takes me right back to the day I discovered i98 and Power FM. Other than that he doesn’t do much for me. His earliest hit ‘Miami’ isn’t too bad and not played much at all.
They need to play Rain on the Scarecrow more.
Agree. Actually the whole Scarecrow album was very good. I like the whole album. He had a number of other great songs too but they don’t get a lot of airplay. Pink Houses is a classic. Miami, Ain’t That America, Lonely Old Night, Authority Song, Crumblin’ Down. I’m a bit of a fan actually.
That’s the same song I think… “Pink Houses” being the correct title.
“Ain’t that America home of the free, yeah
Little pink houses for you and me
Oh yeah, for you and me, oh”
Yes you’re quite right
They need to play Rain on the Scarecrow more
I agree. I love that song.
I could go without hearing “Hey Ya!” by OutKast ever again.
It’s flogged by Star 104.5 (amongst other stations), and I’m over it.
“If I could Only See” by Tonic.I’ve mentioned it before in this thread I know. Its just a bland and boring song
its called if you could see by tonic. i don’t mind that song at all:D
I can’t for the life of me fathom why it still gets played. I guess the band had the tonic for an inoffensive radio hit.
‘Open Up Your Eyes’ is a better song yet you seldom hear it.
This sounds just like Tonic (but better) but was played for a few weeks and promptly forgotten:
Another one;Goo Goo Dolls, “Slide”
I still like hearing If You Could Only See. I also like hearing Slide. It’s barely played it on the radio down here in Melbourne!

“You Wanted More” is a great Tonic song.
I still like “If You Could Only See” though.
