quite surprised it was an outsider. Was expecting someone from the ABC to get the gig. Also surprised she is still able to work for Seven.
Good get with Abbey Gelmi. I think she will fit in perfectly on Offsiders.
Former host Keli Underwood has been awarded an OAM as part of the Australia Day Honours:
ABC Offsiders host Kelli Underwood OAM has also been recognised for service to broadcast media after a celebrated career in sports journalism.
What a joke
First female AFL play-by-play commentator isnât worth recognising?
What a sook.
I am accurate though
Opinions arenât something that can be measured with accuracy. Can I ask why you think Kellie is undeserving?
Well clearly the people who go through the nominations saw that her work has merit that is worthy of the award
OAMs should just be handed out to every man and his dog. I believe that OAMs are awarded for individuals who have had a profound impact on Australia. Just for being on TV and commentating sport doesnât mean you should get an OAM
Just say you donât like Kelli, dude.
Kelli Underwood has been a trailblazer in womenâs commentary and sports broadcasting.
Certainly seems appropriate to recognise her impact on the next generation of female (and male) broadcasters.
Read up on the differences between the levels of honours - OAMs are handed out in their hundreds each year while only a few ACs are given out.
How? Because youâre a sexist?
First panel will new host Abbey Gelmi will be Alison Mitchell (Cricket commentator for BBC, ABC and Seven, presenter of the Stumped program on the BBC World Service), Bharat Sundaresan (Cricket commentator and writer), and Darren Lehmann (Cricket coach)
Has Ali been involved in ABC/TMS WAshes coverage?
No, Alison has not been involved in the Womenâs Ashes coverage at all. Her TMS colleagues Henry Moeran and Alex Hartley are part of the joint radio commentary team with the ABC.
Disappointing, was she involved in the Aus Open? Or just on a break after the BGT?
I know she called the last series down under.
