News 24 just cut from Hillary Barry to the Studios in Sydney for the day’s news…

But I want to see Hillary :cries:

Edit: they just cut back to Hillary  )

TV3 has just gone to a break in the last minute.

And TVNZ are back.

Would be good if it was in Full HD.

Looks like TVNZ have Windows 7 running on their big screen, with MS Office 2010…

And the ABC have cut back to Antony Green, to avoid any timing issues.

9:51 AEDT: ABC News 24 back on TVNZ.

Some caps from TV3, to be updated

Impressed. No other Australian state would make this kind of effort for their elections

Only one criticism, 1, 3 and Maori all had far too small graphics (especially Maori TV, white on orange, come on guys!).
I stayed with Newshub most of the night (who had the slightly bigger ticker) but still found myself squinting at the screen (42" if you must know).
Good use of the long-screen in the 'hub studio too - really liked what they did there, although having Paddy walk across the shot to point at the business end wasn’t ideal. If only they’d orientated the graphics around the other way, but I guess Joe-Blow would find that confusing?

Agreed. 1’s ticker with the electorate winners was virtually pointless.

And it was more useless when News 24 covered it up.

I found it all readable although I agree it could have been a bit bigger.

IMO Newshub had the best coverage on the night. The first network to talk to big party names (minus Jacinda Ardern, the only interview TVNZ had first).

Overall I thought TVNZ looked quite nice although their AR graphics kept cutting out and they ended moving to the big screen wall instead. I thought the ticker, while a little small, still looked quite good. A huge step above what TVNZ have done in previous years in terms of graphics and set design.

But I think Newshub deserve the best coverage award. And I thought the set looked quite good too.

Their coverage was a naff and boring lol

A look at the 1 News Vote17 graphics - you can see from 5:30m the graphics don’t work … this happened quite a lot!

I think what 3 did well was getting their panel to interview English(I missed their Ardern interview so not sure if they did the same). Felt a bit disjointed throwing to 1’s political reporters to do those IVs. Would have been better if Hosking and Barry had done them. 3 also have a couple of cracking on air talents in Lloyd Burr and Jenna Lynch that are both quick on their feet. I thought One’s pundits were better though. The best analysis of the night I thought was the closing stages on 3 when they had Gower, Garner and Linda Clark on the desk.

Newshub’s coverage was much better than 1 News. No fluff about it, just straight into. would have been nice to see more of Paddy, I thought the coalition wall was pretty cool, and it all ran smoothly throughout the night on Three’s coverage. Graphics were surprisingly really good aswell. And as for Newshub’s political reporters, they were all brilliant on the night, Lloyd, Jenna and Isobel are a dynamic team who talk to the viewers not at them.

Agreed. Having Lisa, Duncan, Paddy and Linda all presenting at the start and end, then having two of them taking turns co-presenting in between would look awesome. Aziz Al’Saafin and Shannon Redstall should’ve been used to take social media responses from the Facebook Live lounge in the newsroom IMO. Great to see that both networks were switching panellists throughout last night’s coverage.

One thing I did notice is when the panelists/TV reporters weren’t on Newshub’s TV coverage they were on air with Mark Sainsbury on RadioLive. Great use of Newshub’s multi-platform news centre, using their talent across TV, radio and online.
