Reigning premiers Sydney Roosters only have 11 matches on FTA next year, two more than Canberra and seven less than Brisbane. I thought the NRL would have rewarded the Roosters with more FTA games for their back-to-back trophies.

err - you don’t get a flag ?

So a trophy? (the Provan-Summons trophy)

No surprises that the Broncos still get many FTA games. Sure, it may be a slight reduction from previous years, but not by much.

I do hope that 100% Footy returns in 2020. A good “footy show” that aired on Mondays this year.

That situation probably won’t improve until a 2nd Brisbane team comes in. Then the Broncos should start getting significantly less game coverage on Nine.

The roosters are not a draw, in fact they only draw in Bondi Junction and that’s about it

The Sunday Telegraph’s Phil Rothfield writes that Nine has identified Dan Ginnane from Fox League and Triple M as the replacement for Ray Warren. Nine’s director of sport Tom Malone contacted the off-contract Ginnane last week about joining the network next year.

Who is no longer. Has a replacement been named? Dave Barham maybe?

Mat Thompson deserves to be the first caller when Ray finally retires (or is punted).

Dan Ginnane is good too still.

So are Warren Smith and Andrew Voss,

I’d be happy with any of them as Nine’s new chief NRL caller,

I can’t see Nine picking Voss though.

Dan would be great not just as a caller but as host of some of their NRL shows. Loved it when he hosted the Rush Hour on Triple M a few years ago and the Sportsbet podcast the past two years. He’s already commentated plenty of games with Sterling, Johns, Gould on radio.

Dan would be a great choice.

Nor can I see Vossy going back to Nine after how they axed him

Dan Ginanne has a similar problem to Mat Thompson; he just isn’t high profile or experienced enough for the lead NRL caller job.

They really need a Warren Smith.

Ginnane has plenty of years calling Triple M under his belt and appearances on a range of TV shows. While I think Warren Smith is the superior caller, it’s not as though Ginnane is a nobody.

If Nine promoted Mat more, he’d have a higher profile. It’s a simple answer really.

True. Does he do anything else on Nine apart from commentary? I don’t recall ever seeing him on the Today show, news or the various football programs on Nine.

Anyway, now that Ginanne has been mentioned, that pretty much confirms Thompson won’t be getting the lead caller job.
