I really like that they give their graphics contractor (think it’s still Jack Cronin) license to do fun stuff like this essentially for social media and experiment with different formats/styles, like above with the mid-2000s set of Nine NRL graphics.
A FREE EASTER FEAST OF FOOTY WITH FOUR NRL GAMES THIS WEEK ON NINE

Kicking off with Thursday Night Footy on the Northern Beaches of Sydney, the Manly Sea Eagles host the St George Illawarra Dragons from 7.30pm AEST. In pregame coverage we chat to Red V captain Clint Gutherson, on his return to the ground where it all began for the Manly junior - 4 Pines Park, Brookvale.
Manly skipper Daly Cherry-Evans drops in before he aims to get his team back inside the winners circle with the boisterous Brookvale faithful behind them. In the post match Sammy Thaiday visits the home of NRLW and Queensland State of Origin superstar Tamika Upton in a fresh edition of Their House.
The Bulldogs and Bunnies will hop straight into a double-header of games from 3.00pm AEST live from the Sydney Royal Easter Show on Good Friday Footy in front of 70,000 fans.
Making his return from injury, Bulldogs playmaker Matt Burton and coach Cameron Ciraldo chat to the panel, while the kids get a treat from The Wiggles, when the yellow wiggle, Tsehay, shares her proud connection to the club. And keep an eye out for Brad Fittler when he goes on the hunt for his elusive handshake from supercoach Wayne Bennett before the game.
Straight after, the Storm are looking ominous once again as they get ready to attack Friday Night Footy against the Dolphins at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane from 7.30pm.
Reigning Dally M Medal winner Jahrome Hughes appears as we dive into the numbers behind how he’s become Storm’s most important player. With State of Origin lurking we look at the players who are pressing their case for a start with the Blues and Maroons in 2025.
On Sunday the Knights are keen to make amends at home in Newcastle after three consecutive losses in Sunday Arvo Footy against the Sharks from 3.00pm.
The eighth Immortal and Knights premiership legend Andrew Johns offers his thoughts on how they can fix their attacking woes ahead of kick off. Sharks coach Craig Fitzgibbon and flying fullback Will Kennedy chat to NRL on Nine before they attempt to climb back into the top 8.

BREAKTHROUGH: THE RISE OF WOMEN’S RUGBY LEAGUE
PREMIERES WEDNESDAY APRIL 30 AT 8.30PM
CHANNEL 9 AND 9NOW
From Danny Weidler’s column in today’s SMH:
Albanese’s early May 3 victory
Anthony Albanese’s decision to call an election on the same weekend as Magic Round has already produced a positive result for the Rabbitohs tragic. Nine, the owners of this masthead, will be providing extensive election coverage that Saturday night, so it can’t show the game between Wests Tigers and the Dragons which kicks off at 7.35pm. Instead, and with the blessing of Peter V’landys, the channel will show the Bunnies clash with Newcastle live at 3pm.
I forgot that Nine had Saturday night game coverage during Magic Round.
I guess it makes sense now to have the 3pm game instead on the main channel - due to Nine’s Federal Elections coverage.

TWO UP FOR FREE ON NINE WITH NRL ANZAC DAY DOUBLE
WATCH FOUR GAMES OF FOOTY FOR FREE THIS WEEK
Only the best will do this week when NRL on Nine’s ANZAC Day double leads four games of footy for free, from tonight at 7.30pm on Channel 9 and 9Now.
Undefeated at top of the table, the Bulldogs are barking loudest as they travel to Brisbane to take on the Broncos to lead the first of four blockbuster games for free, tonight on Thursday Night Footy.
Broncos superstar Reece Walsh will join the NRL on Nine panel at halftime. While on the eve of their first ever Premiership game in 1935, we celebrate 90 years of the Canterbury Bankstown Bulldogs club with a feature on their history with legends Terry Lamb, Daryl Halligan, Graeme Hughes and Mark O’Meley.
Tradition runs deeper when the Roosters and Dragons meet in their classic ANZAC Day showdown at Allianz Stadium from 3.00pm. NRL on Nine will celebrate the occasion with the Light Horse Brigade, The Ode and a stirring rendition of The Last Post. Roosters coach Trent Robinson and Sam Walker join the panel live.
Making it an ANZAC Day double at 7.30pm, two giants of the NRL collide when the Storm and Rabbitohs lay their biggest stars out at night in Melbourne.
Supercoach Wayne Bennett has made his move with Latrell Mitchell returning to fullback and his usual No.1 jersey. While his opposite number, Ryan Papenhuyzen will be aiming to pile on the points in combination with Jahrome Hughes and Cameron Munster, as coach Craig Bellamy demands excellence after a shock last start loss to the Dolphins.
After hogging the headlines Lachlan Galvin will make his highly publicised NRL return on Sunday Arvo Footy, live from Leichhardt Oval, when the Wests Tigers take on the Sharks from 3.00pm AEST. Benji Marshall joins the panel before kick off and we feature the obstacles overcome by Sharks try scoring freak Ronaldo Mulitalo.
Gus Gould’s ANZAC Day preview
NRL on Nine expert commentator, Phil Gould said: “ANZAC Day is the most important day on Australia’s national calendar. A day for reflection, appreciation and thanks, to those who sacrificed so much to give us the country and freedoms we enjoy today. To have rugby league play a part in this important day of remembrance is always such an honour. It’s my favourite Rugby League day of the year.
“The Dragons have been very consistent all year. They are also showing real signs of improvement. They are a big, powerful football team. The Roosters have been anything but consistent, and have made some big changes as they search for winning form. These games are always fiercely contested. The two veteran fullbacks, Roosters champion James Tedesco and Dragons captain Clint Gutherson, could be the difference between winning and losing for both sides.
“In Storm v Rabbitohs the supercoaches Craig Bellamy and Wayne Bennett are back at it. Both teams will place a huge premium on victory in this clash after last start losses. Evidence of this fact is Bennett finally selecting Latrell Mitchell to play fullback - going ‘all-in’ on his enigmatic superstar. The Storm has been super hot and super cold, all in the same game, several times this season. Bellamy won’t tolerate such inconsistency much longer. I’m predicting a big bounce back with a supreme 80 minute performance from the Storm.”

Oh right. Sorry wasn’t clear in reading.
I think they are just being economical with the wording - presume it means they are showing all Storm games they have rights to on the main channel now?
