NRL on Nine

Noticed that - very strange.

Very different dynamics tonight.

During last week AFL final the whole thread was full of complaints regarding commercials during the game after each goal.

Not one tonight for the NRL.

It’s because Nine’s commercials are better than Nines :stuck_out_tongue:

Not really been many chances for Nine to fit their ads in, to be fair.

Great for them to share the Isuzu D-Max ad with the world on the hour mark.

After the post match presentations, Nine Perth abruptly ended the Grand Final coverage at 6:55pm (WA Time). Unfortunately there was no post match presentations on 9Gem. They would go straight to News.

Poor form from Nine in Perth. How hard is it to schedule it for 9Gem.

Although scheduled to go for another half an hour (plus the usual overrun), not much will actually happen, but milk the upcoming Melbourne Cup. And a random interview to Olympian Jess Fox (who is a Panthers fan).

It’s a beautiful coincidence that the Panthers’ and Fox’s success in their respective fields have aligned simultaneously.

And that Freddie was kept away from her this time.

NRL GF starts earlier than Origin or a normal prime time NRL game on Nine, to accommodate the Presentations and post game and its a weeknight in other markets. Plus the 30min news to allow Pre Match Entertainment and pre ceremony.

Like a 9:45pm or 10pm finish and the post game that then follows. It’s one of the reasons Seven’s AFL on Fridays always draws such strong shares (used to be 7:50pm - about 10:30pm and a post show to around 11:30pm!)

So to ensure Nine’s share is maximum as possible, they’ll keep it going as long and late as possible.

Don’t Nine do play by play l commentary any more? Seems like they all just chat about the game while the action is happening. Made for a very dull commentary.

What about Brad Fittler who won a Premiership for the Panthers

Everyone seems to be reacting to this like it is a new thing. Gus hasn’t called a Grand Final for Nine since 2021. That was the year he took on his GM role with the Dogs and the last year that Ray Warren called a final.

And played for the Roosters most notably.

The problem Nine has is most of their “experts” have perceived conflicts as a lot of them still have some sort of involvement with clubs in mentoring or coaching players in a specialist role etc.

Did Gus make an appearance or commentate any of the earlier matches (either the Women’s Final or the State Final)? As he was their on the panel for the NRL Post-Match.

Brad Fittler was seen in the dressing rooms of the Panthers after the game having a drink. Complete conflict of interest, as he was there to interview players.

every special / expert commentator would have a conflict - NRL or AFL. Brad Hodge and Brisbane Lions…

He called the state championship game.

I think you meant “Luke Hodge”.
