NRL on Nine

I wish the on air graphics looks as good as what those banners look!

Ah ok, makes more sense and looks better in it’s intended portrait form rather than landscape.

Covering tonight’s game was challenging.

Won’t do anything. The lens is fogged internally.

Brenton Speed calling today’s game even though this is an all-Queensland clash (normally, Peter Psaltis would call such matches).

I’ve also noticed Speed has called all but the opening two Sunday matches of the season. Makes me wonder if he is contracted to call most (if not all) Sunday matches?

If Psaltis isn’t calling it, there’s a fair chance it’s from the studio in Sydney.
You’ll find Thompson or Speed have called the cowboys games from the studio this year.

There have been only two Cowboys games on Nine so far this season and Psaltis called both (against the Dolphins and Broncos, both at Suncorp Stadium, in rounds one and four respectively).

Its even easier than that to work out. Bit hard for Freddy to do the Footy Show and Gus Gould to do the pre-game from the studio and then get to Townsville to call the game

They were never going to go to Townsville.

Nine didn’t send them to Melbourne for the Thursday night game against the Broncos either, only Danika and JT were there.

The calling off tv is happening way too often now on none. And you can tell. The commentators are phoning it in and have no clue what is happening at ground level or out of frame. It’s been really telling of late. Fox is even worse. They barely call at the ground at all.

Remember when buzz Rothfield blasted nine for it in his column.
Funny thing is Triple M have been the best for calling from the ground and they are a radio station.

Probably easier/cheaper to cover games as a radio station since you’re only needing to do audio, not full visuals as well.

Though less money in radio too, since most people will watch the game on TV instead, as all games are live now.

Nine’s game of the round: Dolphins v Broncos

Speaking on the Billy Slater Podcast ahead the Battle of Brisbane, NRL on Nine expert commentator and Queensland Maroons coach, Billy Slater, said: “Despite the noise around the players that aren’t available, you have to remember the ones that are a very high quality.

“For the Dolphins it’s great news that Tom Flegler may be fit to play against his old club for the first time. There’s enough quality for the Broncos on show with Kotoni Staggs, Selwyn Cobbo and Reece Walsh all able to break the game open at any stage.

ROOSTERS V STORM IN THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTY ON NINE

LIVE AND FREE ON CHANNEL 9HD, STREAMING FREE ON 9NOW

Two giants of the NRL, the Sydney Roosters and Melbourne Storm, will square off in a Thursday Night Footy grudge match to spearhead Round 7 of NRL on Nine .

Live and free from Allianz Stadium in the heart of Sydney, exclusively for the 9Network will be former Roosters premiership captain Brad Fittler, Storm legends Cameron Smith and Billy Slater, the Eighth Immortal, Andrew Johns, and host James Bracey, with sideline updates by Danika Mason.

In what shapes as a significant night for the team dubbed “the Bondi boys”, the Roosters find themselves up against another club laced with superstars who are looking to show they are serious title threats in 2024.

The Storm ended the Roosters’ season with a narrow semi-final victory in 2023, and will look to strike with their big gamebreakers: Ryan Papenhuyzen, Cameron Munster, Harry Grant, and Xavier Coates with his incredible aerial assaults.

The Roosters will welcome back incumbent Australia and NSW State of Origin captain James Tedesco to boost a backline that features Joey Manu, Joseph Sua’li’i and Luke Keary.

Friday Night Footy travels to the top end in Darwin where the Eels face the Dolphins, then on Sunday Arvo Footy from 3.00pm Nicho Hynes and the Cronulla Sharks take on the North Queensland Cowboys on Channel 9HD and 9Now.

Nine’s game of the round: Roosters v Storm

NRL on Nine expert commentator, Phil Gould, said: “This is the clash of the heavyweights. There is no doubt the Sydney Roosters and Melbourne Storm have been two of the best performed NRL clubs over the past 25 years. Both clubs boast impressive records and their rivalry is as intense as any match up in the game. Here we are in 2024, and the Roosters and Storm are again amongst the best in the competition.

“Both are coming off narrow wins last weekend. Both will be super keen to keep the momentum going. Both will put a huge price on these two competition points. You want rugby league at its best? Don’t miss this one.”

I forgot the women’s state of origin and the NRLW are exclusive to 9 this year.

The league is exclusive to 9?

Fairly sure the NRLW is still on Fox. The draw on the NRL website only has Nine listed, but everything else put out has Fox listed as well.

Ok thanks
