Although Nine’s press release says Storm v Panthers will be shown live on 9Gem in Adelaide and Perth, online guides are showing the match to be broadcast live on the main channel in both cities.

It makes sense when it seems like Nine are treating Storm v Panthers as the ‘main’ game of the weekend. One of the ways that’s indicated is by how James Bracey is hosting the coverage for that game where Erin Molan is doing the Rabbitohs v Sea Eagles match.

The above information is incorrect, the game is on 9Gem in Melbourne. The Footy Show My Room Telethon is airing in the main channel from 7.30pm.

I’m not surprised … the ratings last weekend for the non Storm games weren’t great, but they were probably still a bit better than I thought they might be.
It’s not about ratings… Nine has a contractual obligation to air the My Room telethon.

Probably a question for a different thread, but do we know how many years Nine’s contract for the My Room Telethon goes for?
I’d assume that their contract for the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation’s Gold Telethon here in NSW has concluded, as there was no telecast this year with the SCHF opting instead to partner with Seven News for the “Sydney Sick Kids Appeal” (which had no significant on-air telethon AFAIK).
Nine announced tonight that Grand Final Day will involve 12 hours of coverage from 11am next Sunday 3 Oct (with the inevitable 30 min news at 6pm:presumably, a pet hate of mine - as I’d much rather see it uninterrupted all day/night).

Each to their own, but I personally think Nine still has a responsibility to inform viewers (even if only for half an hour) what else is happening on NRL Grand Final day with a 6pm news bulletin.

My view is that there are 4 other stations that do that.
Nine can cope without news for 1 day.
Kick-off for tonight’s match between South Sydney and Manly is starting 15 minutes later (now at 8.05pm instead of 7.50pm) because of traffic, causing Manly to be 15 minutes late to the ground.

There’s no reason why the build-up couldn’t move to 9Gem during the news (like Seven are doing with 7mate tomorrow for the AFL GF).

Good news for Adelaide viewers. Fans can watch the full hour of the NRL Grand Final Entertainment. In the past couple of years, Channel 9 Adelaide missed the first 30 minutes of the Pre-match entertainment due to 1 Hour of Nine News.
It will be a 10.5 hours of Rugby League Grand Final next Sunday on Nine. May the best team win next week.

I think the replacement on the main channel is just the usual line-up of The Block encores, the 5pm news and Postcards.
There is just one program replaced in Melbourne - the 25 min Intrust Super Cup post game and GF preview show at 5:35pm - moved to 9Gem.
