Now serving Clint for breakfast…
Cheesy. No thanks.
Given their close friendship I feel like Nova are missing the opportunity to combine Chrissie Swan and Joel Creasey for a show.
“Chrissie and Joel” could run from 12-4 weekdays?
But they probably both prefer to do their own things on their own shows.
I’d much rather Chrissie and Joel separately, I think together they’d be too much. I’m sure there will be a bit of banter at handover time. Or maybe Jack will anchor both shows?
Is Joel 12-1pm? Or 12-2pm weekdays?
That is waayyyyy too much talk on Nova.
That.
We don’t know what the content will be yet.
Could be like The Jermaine Plaine or The Maddy Rowe Show and have more music than chat.
I think this will be it. A lot more music played through his show, with mostly music and pop culture related chatter throughout.
IIRC Nova 9s was the name used for a countdown show. Eg the top 9 songs.
It’s unlocked a memory.
I can’t remember if it was the same name used then, but when Nova 937 launched, the evening show was like three chart shows - but each one tagged to be from a different suburb. Eg “its Bull Creek’s nova 9s” and maybe sometimes they’d send the Casanova’s to that location too.
I ghink it was promoted as Top 9 At 9. If it’s on at 8, I guess they could say Top 9 Until 9. ![]()
I remember not very long ago they had the Top 9 at 9 in the final hour of Smallzy’s Surgery on weeknights.
And every Friday there would be Nova’s Fresh 40.
It used to be the Nova19’s.
I didn’t quite understand the concept - was it back-to-back Top 19 different countdowns of an evening? I always wondered what its structure was, as it didn’t take 3hrs to play 19 songs (up against the Today Network’s Hot 30 Countdown).
Not sure but was Nova19s only a weekly countdown or daily? Smallzy did do a lot of interviews and segments so not difficult to fill the hours.
Yes! Thank you.
I think this was the time before networking… I can’t remember who it was in Perth, but it was a local host.
On the weekends, Osher used to host the “arse about countdown” where they would just play the top 40 in a random order.
The Perth Nova 19s was hosted by Justine McKell and then Matt Bern (who I believe is currently at Territory FM). I believe the format was 2 or 3 separate Top 19 countdowns, linked to a suburb who I presumed voted for it (eg: Dalkeith’s Nova 19s; Rockingham’s Nova 19s; Armadale’s Nova 19s) and the Nova Ambos/Casanovas would spend time in that suburb during their countdown. Back then of course, they only had “two ads in a row” so they could fit in more songs. Eventually it became the Nova 9s, then the Action Battle Team (Perth only) and then my memory gets hazy from there. I think the ABT eventually went national with Maz Compton, then along came Smallzy.
It even spawned a compilation CD.
