Based on Archie Weller’s award winning novel The Day of The Dog, Blackfellas tells the story of Doug Douligan (John Moore, Pitch Black), an Aboriginal man caught between his allegiance to his people and his aspirations to escape a cycle of self-destructive behaviour.

Both buoyed and perturbed by his life-long friend, the charismatic “Pretty Boy” Floyd (AFI Award winner David Ngoombujarra, Black and White), Doug finds himself deeply attracted to free spirited young Polly (Jaylene Riley) - presenting a future full of possibilities. But Doug is made all the more aware of his precarious position by his white mother (Julie Hudspeth, Shame) and like it or not, must face his past in order to truly understand his heritage.

A bold and controversial film, exploring the very heart of Australian race relations and winner of 2 AFI Awards, Blackfellas also features first-rate performances from Ernie Dingo (Bran Nue Dae) and John Hargreaves (Don’s Party).

A historical and contemporary account of Wiradyuri connection to Ngurumbang and how eastern Wiradyuri places and cultural practices were affected by the 1824 Declaration of Martial Law against the Wiradyuri, and the following 200 years of colonisation. This documentary is presented by Dinawan Dyirribang Uncle Bill Allen, senior Wiradyuri Elder and knowledge holder, who is a descendant of the great warrior Windradyne, leader of the Wiradyuri war of resistance. The Declaration details the Wiradyuri history of four significant sites in the Bathurst region. First, Dinawan shares cultural knowledge about the ancient art site Mayiny-gu Marra-gu, meaning ‘Many People’s Hands’ (known as ‘blackfellow’s hands’), describing the people that visited and practices that took place there for millennia.

The Power of Activism shines a new light on a group of young activists who are risking it all to change the future thinking of governments and major companies. In true ‘David versus Goliath’ style, these inspirational scientists and conservationists challenge the thinking of outdated practices that are contributing to climate change. Giving the work of these women a new dimension, one of Australia’s top actuaries investigates their actions to calculate the financial value of each of their projects… and the results are astonishing.

From sacred ground above Byron Bay to Antarctica, Indonesia and to Pakistan, the women apply their energies to shark conservation, factory farming and antibiotic resistance, Indigenous practices, the fight against pollution and the subsequent environmental
and human health impact these issues are having. The Power of Activism moves beyond a critique of the world’s inaction on climate change and celebrates the example set by this group of gutsy future proofers.

In British Columbia’s pristine Nemiah Valley, wild horses – the Qayus – have run free for centuries. But recently, their thriving population is pitting horse against horse in a ruthless fight for survival. To manage the herds, the Xeni Gwet’in First Nation capture, train and find permanent homes for a select few – allowing those horses left behind the chance to thrive.

It is an encore screening on NITV, the documentary film actually premiered on SBS main channel on January 19 this year.

The film shifts back and forth through time as it follows Joan on her final tour and delves into her extraordinary archive, including home movies, diaries, artwork, therapy tapes, and audio recordings. Baez is remarkably revealing about her life on and off stage - from her lifelong emotional struggles to her civil rights work with MLK and a heartbreaking romance with a young Bob Dylan.
