I believe it was this thread where other members were comparing various newspaper listings for TV guides.

Heres how they look in my part of the world.

This is the Mackay Daily Mercury guide from last Thursday.
Note: WIN News is listed for 6pm, even though Mackay doesn’t have a WIN News bulletin.

This is the Townsville bulletin guide from today.

I remember Bruce Gordon being very upset that when Nine allowed the CBS ouput deal to go to Ten it meant that David Letterman was no longer on WIN. Bruce must be very happy now that when he visits Sydney and Wollongong that he can again watch The Late Show on WIN.

The Colbert show isn’t as good but it’s nice for the schedule to have a late night show back.

Is Dr Phil in HD ? Times I have seen it on a 2009 768p tv , it looks "Soft " . When I saw Ellen on 9 it looks less softer , but doesn’t seem as sharp (upscaled ?). Today Show looks sharp and bright.

Not sure if it is the LCD tv or the networks…

Interesting article with some ratings information.

However, the numbers quoted don’t seem to match with time time period claimed - they look to not include at least the last week of ratings including Masterchef final. (says there have been 4 weeks of ratings since the change but there have been 5). Also the first half of the piece refers to just SNSW e.g. the rating given for the State of Origin is just that market . So the claims about relative ranking aren’t correct but still interesting read.

Ratings reveal biggest loser in regional TV swap

WIN TV is getting bigger audiences for Network Ten programs like The Project and Offspring than Southern Cross Austereo did before the regional rivals swapped feeder networks last month.

But Bruce Gordon’s WIN has also been the biggest loser in the prime-time ratings since changing channels from Nine to Ten on July 1.

Across the five states where it now carries Ten, which also includes Queensland, Tasmania and Western Australia, WIN claimed victory over Southern Cross Austereo’s Nine content among viewers aged 16-39, 25-54 and 16-54.

According to TV Tonight, there are rumours that WIN has cut production roles in Orange, Canberra & Wagga last week, with Wollongong & Queensland tipped to be next in line.

Caught a promo from WIN advertising last night that “Your local News is coming up next”. My recording shows this aired at 5.55pm, which is obviously meant for all the bulletins that are at 6pm. This sort of promo is kinda useless to be putting to air for viewers in Tassie as their bulletin started 25 minutes earlier WIN!

Ha, love how there’s a WIN HD logo on there when the bulletin most likely doesn’t even air in proper HD! :stuck_out_tongue:

‘Life in Pieces’ pop-up

I’ve only seen a couple of these since WIN’s affiliation to Ten, but are most of their pop-ups now displayed in the top left corner instead of the bottom? This one in particular is massive (this capture doesn’t do it justice)!

“TV mogul Bruce Gordon and his wife Judith head up the list, buying a Sydney bolthole in the Quay Grand for $9 million”.

WIN would still be making a profit? Gordon does have other investments, a stake in a newspaper/website in Bermuda is one.

WIN News is definitely not proper HD, it looks just as bad on 80 as it does on 8!

Haha! WIN News would be at best upconverted SD. And it’s not likely for a long time to be in native HD. That’s the least of their worries anyways!

I saw an Offspring one the other day. They’re very intrusive up in the top left.

I think WIN News has a better chance of being cancelled before being shown in native HD.

Meanwhile SCTV here is pumping out an analogue production and blitzing the competition every night LOL

I wouldn’t be at all surprised if a couple of the bulletins get the axe by early next year (with the Tassie bulletin reduced to 30 minutes and weekends cut completely).

Let’s be honest, SC News could be shown in 4:3 and have patchy picture/audio quality and it would still blitz any competition against it. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Lol, how does that even happen.[/quote]You see, with WIN the possibilities are endless. After all, they’re a ‘special’ bunch over there.
