Watched it a few minutes ago. They have other presenters like Ben Fordham (Ninja Warrior), Eddie McGuire (Footy SHow), Peter Hitchener (Nine News Melbourne), Karl & Georgie (Today). Will be a scintillating summer on Channel Nine and will expect Channel Nine to take out the non-summer ratings.
Don’t know about that - the Australian Open will definitely do well for Nine in the lead up to the ‘TV year’ beginning. However, Seven having both test cricket and BBL will benefit more ratings wise than what they got out from having the tennis
Yeah. The Davis Cup appears to have rated disastrously low on Friday and Saturday night, and I think that is a forerunner of what can be expected for every tournament except the Australian Open.
Not true at all. Fair go, it was directly against AFL and NRL finals.
Sydney International went as massive as 400k or something this year on 7Two on a Saturday night, after young De Minaur performed excelled.
Viewers will tune-in to Aussies, especially performing well and/or big international stars. Otherwise you may he right.
Nine’s reach is what they’d be looking at.
They have The Sydney and Melbourne Markets as well as the 9NBN (as they have been the ratings leader for more than 3 decades now). 2019 will be an exciting year for Nine - normally the tennis was during non-ratings period so would expect good audience numbers.
He’s utter garbage, continually mis-pronunces and gets things wrong all the times his analysis is average and is TA’s puppet a lot of time.
Woodbridge is every bit as bad as Ling is personally. And Cameron is awful.
That’s a good promo. Markets outside of Melbourne need an even more agressive marketing campaign. Still early days. More announcements haven’t been made yet nor any initial details. Even if corny-ish, at least effort and originality in promo. Aus Open will dominate for Nine, but I hope they’re able to get an audience for other events too, which will be the real test, especially against BBL on Seven and Foxtel.
I think it is ok … except for the implication that Tony Jones is ‘fresh’ and ‘new’.
Like it. Better than Seven’s presenters talking up the cricket.
Promo was about 2 mins longer than it should of been. How many times do we need to say its new. Also, no mention of the warm up events as part of the summer of tennis. Were very specific on the two week part.
Judging by the colour scheme, it looks like they might be trying to appeal to younger viewers despite the commentators being from 7.
They also really need to get rid of those shrieks in that promo. It’s a massive turn off.
Nine will show highlights of this year’s Laver Cup tennis tournament between Team Europe and Team World, as part of its broadcast deal with Tennis Australia which is a co-organiser of the event. This year’s Laver Cup will be held at Chicago’s United Center from September 21-23 and streamed live on Amazon Prime.
Appears to be airing live on ESPN2 all weekend too, thought Prime had exclusive rights to it but anyways.
When is Nine showing the highlights? Nothing in the program guide for the next week, so why bother if the highlights are at least a week after the event.
Yes, ESPN2 is showing the Laver Cup live in Australia, according to Foxtel TV guide.
a sign that the warm up events will be on sold to Fox Sports/ESPN/beIN Sports perhaps?
Nine is still the media partner of the Sydney and Brisbane Internationals and the Hopman Cup. No change there.
