According to this article at Davis Cup website

The eight winners from this year’s World Group Play-offs will be seeded for the qualifying round in February, in which 24 teams will take part in home and away matches, with the 12 victors securing a direct place in November’s new-look Finals.
The 12 unseeded nations, meanwhile, will be determined by the Davis Cup nations ranking of Monday 17 September, raising the importance, for many teams, of a positive result. Austria are currently No. 22 in the rankings and Australia No. 8.

EDIT: the draw has been made for the playoff and John Millman is not playing for Australia on day 1.

EDIT 2: Australian captain Lleyton Hewitt said he picked Jordan Thompson for Friday’s match against Dominic Thiem because John Millman was a “little bit under the weather” after the recent US Open campaign.

Looks so weird seeing Todd at Nine now, after seeing him extensively earlier this year hosting the Comm Games and commentating at the Aus Open for Seven.

So glad Nine signed him though. Excellent sports broadcaster and as the aforemntioend proved himself diverse.

How does everyone think of Nine’s coverage?

Well, haven’t been able to really watch it yet with the footy finals :pensive:

Not sure if anyone else just caught it but Nine just aired a very extended promo for the Australian Open during their Davis Cup coverage which featured a lot of Nine personalities
