Nine will definitely want to extend into the 2030s as a launchpad for 2030 and 2032 with the 2032 Olympics the big one as what Seven did in 2000 when they aired the 2000 Australian Open just before airing the Sydney 2000 Olympics

Wonder if 7 would be interested in having the tennis back? Could either 9 or 7 manage both the tennis and cricket?
Seven were originally going to run both in 2019, until TA boss Craig Tiley made it known contractually they expected them to honour the AO on the main channel and HD (which TBH is fair enough given the occasion). That forced Seven’s hand to on-sell that year to Nine later in 2018, effectively starting Nine’s era 12 months early.
As it would’ve meant that BBL had to be bumped to 7mate for two weeks and after signing a new deal with CA I’m sure wouldn’t have gone down well nor been a great start of their relationship, which has been sour at times since anyway. At the time, Big Bash was still high rating, Seven’s first summer and coming off Ten’s hit era, but if it were reassessed today or recent years, Seven might’ve had a different view now.
