I think Google is getting confused with names, as it’s listing a Melbourne Park court as “Stadium Australia”, where Australian Dan Sweeney is currently trying to qualify. I think that’s the newly titled “ANZ Court” (which 9Now lists for Sweeny’s match). Stadium Australia is at Olympic Park in Sydney, which was previously ANZ Stadium.

So the Alcaraz vs De Minaur match doesn’t appear to be airing live on Nine: looks to be somewhere in the realm of half an hour behind based on the YouTube stream.
Back to the graphics from last year for tonight. Again, not indicative of anything based on previous years. The YouTube thumbnails have been using the rounded corner motif though.

Indeed so, the YT stream starts at 7pm AEDT. The Opening Ceremony in two days will be getting the same treatment.

Nope - there was also a Nine | Olympics ring logo in 2024 (to promote the Paris Olympics).

It doesn’t even take one hour and we’ve wrapped up. If there was a Nine bump planned, it sure isn’t happening.
Next match will begin in 30 minutes, which is ideal.

Obviously Nine will opt for the two No. 1s and RLA, Sabalenka and Alcaraz, can build them up for the first big Sunday night and as “former AO champion and back-to-back finalist”, Carlos speaks for itself and the local Aussie.

Not sure about this new “Opening Ceremony” thing tonight? Nine have been heavily promoting it.
How much more to TA/AO want? They already added the Sunday tomorrow to the tournament, which has been a success. But then they ramped up ‘Opening Week’ this week, reportedly confusing some and all the Qualifying, exhibitions and practice sessions.
Like it’s a nice idea and great to have Federer back, as well as Agassi, Rafter, Hewitt, even Crowded House. But feel it’ll be better for the crowd actually there and couldn’t this have been done earlier in the week, they could’ve made it another ‘Night with Friends’ or something. Everybody knows the Aus Open begins tomorrow, so if it was more for a ‘night before’ extra promo push, not sure it really works. I mean compared to the tradition of what an Olympics OC is for and does.
Anyway, guess we’ll see. Credit to Tiley & Co, they’ve had an unexpectedly successful week before the real thing has even started.
It also impacts the Adelaide International final (oddly enough also on Nine - 9Gem and a sister TA event!)
