Nice to see Rennae Stubbs back on Australian TV coverage, first proper time on Nine. Previously an expert commentator and courtside reporter for Seven between 2011 and 2018.

The qualifiers in 2024 used the previous graphic set before the current ones were launched with the main draw coverage, so that isn’t a guarantee of anything.

Interesting. I personally thought similar to the rest of the Slams, if you have something new, you should debut it in day 1 of qualifying.
Most recent example is Wimbledon last winter.
I still believe it’s 1PS-only but we’ll see.
Why is this a “should”? I get from a technical point of view there is probably a preference to get a few runs on the board with them before they go out on the main telecast, but there isn’t an obligation to do so. Especially such a minor change like this, there really isn’t a huge need.

What’s with the wacky spider cam angle that they’re sometimes using?

9Gem gave gone to a mixed doubles match at Memorial Drive, the all-Aussie women’s match has ended early abruptly, Ajla Tomljanovic has had to retire injured. No doubt the telecast will finish earlier than 11pm edt now.
Two Australian women have gone through today after their opponents retired hurt.

It’s the only match in progress so they have to take it. 9.23pm finish.

Noticed Nine also put their wwos closer after that as well.

Todd thanked Clint for tonight, but thought he might’ve briefly mentioned him departing Nine recently and thanked him more broadly for his work on the summer of tennis over the past 7 years. Nothing was said. Unless he’s not done yet, maybe the next couple of nights’ exhibitions? He definitely was not in Nine’s release for the AO proper.
Also curious on Stubbs, wonder if we’ll see her pop-up more? Also not in the release.
Thank goodness they didn’t pick TJ to do the sideline hosting duties

Even if he’s done, that would be irrelevant to an international audience.

Credit to Craig Tilley. One Point Slam was a genius innovation for the AO. In fact the entire “opening week” so much buzz and focus on Melbourne Park and tennis hadn’t even started yet

I suspect Stubbs will be on the world feed
