How are they in the Melbourne sports studio with SFS airing today too?
Tennis finished at 8.30am
A memo sent … asks “all broadcasters to refrain from showcasing any disruptions or reactions in response to the President’s attendance in any capacity.”
When contacted by Deadline, ESPN had no comment on the USTA correspondence. However, indications from insiders at the Disney outlet is that they will be concentrating their coverage on the tennis but not ignore Trump or his presence.
Might USTA pipe some pre-recorded crowd down those world feed slots until the actual players come out?
Really is the signs of a bowing down to a despotic leader. Strange times over there.
Jim Courier, normally a commentator/analyst on Nine’s Australian Open coverage, is MC’ing the post-match presentation following the men’s singles final.
The match started 30 minutes late this morning due to the extra security associated with POTUS. Highlights were shown of the Women’s final.
Vision was shown of the stadium that was only half full at the start of play due to the crowd being delayed by the extra security.
Sunrise and Today both showed Trump’s arrival to boos and cheers.
I believe Davis Cup Qualifiers (and Finals, hopefully) is the final event of 2025 for Nine.
Then we’re off to this.
Billie Jean King Cup qualifying ties in November i think as well
He was also commentating on the world feed,on Stan Sport
A familiar face we see at Melbourne Park every Summer
Mary Carillo stuffed up the women’s singles final ceremony and was critcised on social media
I spotted him when I walked past the Channel 9 broadcasting area while at the Oz Open this year
143,000 viewers watched the Sincaraz final on 9Gem.
Very impressive for a match that began at 4 in the morning.
Fairly certain this weekend’s Davis Cup duel on 9Go should draw at least this much, if not more.
Watch it live on 9Go and 9Now this weekend.
Stan should add Davis Cup rights but you have to get another stremaing service to watch these comps plus the non-grand slam events.
Looks like Nine is using world feed commentary for Australia v Belgium this weekend.
Odd that they’re going for the World Feed commentary - given that it is in Sydney.
Also odd that both Todd and Jelena are hosting from the studio, rather than from the ground. When Nine has hosted the Sydney International (the ATP Cup and then the United Cup in recent years), there was a pop-up studio at the grounds where the hosted. So odd they’re not capitalising it for the Davis Cup.
I know that the commentary studio inside the Ken Rosewell Arena is small. I’m not sure how many can fit in there though. Perhaps thats the reason of the World Feed?
