It’s time to get down to business on Australian Open Day 10, when the quarterfinals burst to life on the 9Network from 11.30am AEDT.
First up, Coco Gauff is looking to build on her ironwoman reputation when she faces Spain’s Paula Badosa. With partner Stefanos Tsitsipas helping from the stands, Badosa is looking to claim a big scalp in Gauff after 12 months out due to injury.
Tommy Paul and Alexander Zverev will square off in the first men’s singles quarterfinal. Paul is apart of the American men’s tennis resurgence out to be the first since Andre Agassi in 2003 to win the Australian Open. While world no.2 Zverev has cruised through the opening rounds dropping just one set.
Aryna Sabalenka leads off the night session from 7.00pm against Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, who has impressed in the opening rounds but faces an imposing task against the world no.1 and reigning women’s singles champion.
Then to top it all off, history meets destiny when 10-time Australian Open champion Novak Djokovic squares off with Carlos Alcaraz in a mouth watering match up.
Throughout the 2025 Australian Open, fans will have the ability to watch every point of every match, at any time live, free and on any device in HD on 9Now.
Turns out they could’ve still been airing their Alcaraz v Joker promo this evening, “tonight” or “next”, let alone tomorrow’s… As Sabalenka and Pavlyuchenkova is going the distance and a huge upset brewing against the back-to-back defending champion. What a night, what a couple of nights and potentially rest of the week.
(Also, a nit pick, a little misleading calling tomorrow night “final”. ‘Quarter final’, ‘finals’ or ‘a final’ would’ve been better, as it isn’t the final/men’s final).
If TJ doesn’t host next year, I’d like to see Todd Woodbridge get a run in the morning session, or they could get either Clint Stanaway from Melbourne (with Nathan Currie taking Stanaway’s place as roving reporter), Tom Rehn from Adelaide or Jonathan Uptin from Brisbane.
I’m not a fan of this and wasn’t when Woodbridge became a host (while also a caller) in his later years at Seven.
It was a terrible and regrettable decision, IMO, back in the late 2000s when Bruce McAvaney was stuck in the studio and did not call matches for several years.
DAY 11: AUSTRALIAN OPEN BROADCAST SCHEDULE DE MINAUR V SINNER - 7.30PM AEDT ON CHANNEL 9 AND 9NOW A Demon meets a Sinner in the quarterfinals on the 9Network from 7.30pm AEDT, when the nation throws it support behind Alex De Minaur on Australian Open Day 11.
Although De Minaur is ranked inside the world’s top ten, Sinner has proven to be his kryptonite, winning every one of their nine matchups.
However, with the home crowd inside Rod Laver Arena, a strong run in the round stages and the dangling carrot of making a Grand Slam semi-final for the first time, De Minaur is primed for a breakthrough against the world no.1.
Back-to-back women’s quarterfinals will be held during the day session from 11.30am AEDT. First up, American Madison Keys meets Elina Svitolina followed by a top ten ranked clash between Iga Swiatek and Emma Navarro.
One of American men’s tennis rising stars, Ben Shelton, is on court as his brash and exciting style goes on show against unseeded Italian Lorenzo Sonego, who has nothing to lose against his more fancied opponent during their daytime quarterfinal.
Throughout the 2025 Australian Open, fans will have the ability to watch every point of every match, at any time live, free and on any device in HD on 9Now.

Watch The Morning Serve on YouTube and 9Now from 7.00am AEDT
Looking like Sinner and de Minaur will have to wait a bit, as Shelton and Sonego is becoming a marathon.
Nine also looked a little unsure of what they’d do right up to 7pm, with Bracey forgetting to tell Sydney and Melbourne viewers on 9Gem to switch back to main channel with channel abruptly cutting. While main channel at 7 after wwos opener crashed straight into the tense match, he welcomed viewers back but then the match left for a minute or two while showing Alex and Jannik warming up under RLA. And with this quarter final still going, any pre game show tonight might’ve gone out the window, save for a while being needed to change-over everything between matches.
Probably good news for Nine though, straight to a thriller rather than talking heads right after news and a longer and later evening for shares especially non edt markets, plus a legends match with Hewitt and Philippoussis late tonight as well.
Australian Open semi-finalist Ben Shelton has criticised tournament broadcasters and interviewers, claiming he has been “shocked” by their “disrespect”.
Shelton, who will face Jannik Sinner on Friday night for a spot in the final, made the complaint unprompted in his press conference after beating Lorenzo Sonego in their quarter-final.
“I’ve been a little bit shocked this week with how players have been treated by the broadcasters,” Shelton said.
“I don’t think that the guy who mocked Novak (Tony Jones), I don’t think that was just a single event. I’ve noticed it with different people, not just myself. I noticed it with Learner Tien in one of his matches. I think when he beat Medvedev his post-match interview, I thought it was kind of embarrassing and disrespectful that interview.
